*HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT* I, the Wrestling Archivist, am working on my first wrestling book. I'm collaborating with Rocky Della Serra on his autobiography, so I've been uploading several of his matches to this channel for the past 4 1/2 years. I will have more news to share regarding this book in future uploads, and I will launch a Facebook page eventually with updates, photos, videos, and more of Rocky's career. This book will be very comprehensive, with reflections from Rocky on wrestling in Montreal, Vancouver, Puerto Rico, Calgary, the Maritimes, Newfoundland, Memphis, New England, Trinidad, Barbados, Japan, France, Germany, and elsewhere, as well as his personal life. I'm currently writing the draft, but I'm aiming for a release in a year or so. Stay tuned!
Now for this upload, we join Rocky once again as he teams with Leo Burke against Yoshiaki Fujiwara & Nobuhiko Takada for the UWF Japan promotion. Burke, of course, was a major star in the Maritime provinces of Canada for promoters Al Zinck (International Wrestling) and Emile Dupre (Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling), but led a storied career that brought him all across Canada, the U.S., New Zealand, Japan, and Puerto Rico, to name some of his stops. Those who have read Bret Hart's autobiography know how highly he speaks of Burke, and Leo was indeed a stellar wrestler. This bout was also recorded on a handheld camera, so you'll hear the ring introductions, audience, bumps in the ring, and other sounds in the arena, but no commentary. This match took place in Tokyo, Japan at Korakuen Hall on July 24, 1984.
