Leo Jaymz part 2! A new game or more of the same?

Hello J-Man. I have 3 Leo Jaymz. One tele style and two Monsoons. Mine were all in a Styrofoam coffin with a Styrofoam lid all in a cardboard box very well packed. They played fine but had their issues. Not sure why this one you got came that way. This one you are playing really sounds great. I've told you before but I just love your country style of playing. If you ever decide to teach, I'll be your first student. ( probably oldest too).

A decent guitar, J! I prefer adarker metallic blue without the burst. These travel from China. Survivng months on a ship and then a warehouse with little to no protection. Wafer switch should be the standard these day, but it is, as we say in Canada, cheap eh. Great demo and working on that contest video for that Musi Fusion.

I've purchased 3 guitars from Leo Jaymz (2 from Amazon, 1 from their website). All 3 were serviceable / usable. However the only difference I noticed was all of mine came in square boxes with Leo branding on the box (ink, not stickers) and had custom foam shipping inserts. While I would never say they were of a quality that you'd gig with it out of the box, but they are great beginner guitars or Project Guitars if you intend for a cheap base you can put some good stuff into to get a nice guitar without having to hit that $1000 - 1200+ price point (as you can get a guitar and replace everything on it and still come out below $700).. For what they cost, they will do...

Holy TWANG! - that clean sound cuts through for sure. Not sure I like the blue but if that's the only issue, then it's a good guitar. Black Hardware - YES, that would sweeten it up for sure.

I like this one better as well. I agree with you on the pick guard. I wouldn't like a clear guard on any guitar. It doesn't sound half bad either. What's next?

Funny, when you first pulled the wrapping off your reaction to the top was "that's ugly" and mine was "ooh, I like that." Sounds good and out-of-box setup didn't seem to be holding you back. Tuning stability, pickups, controls- not bad at all! I think you got lucky on this one.

@j-man9457 Here's a cheap, effective trick for the clear pickguard, clean the back side really well then paint it black. Will be interesting to see and hear this guitar after you customize it. And as for the pickups, they may not be quite to your liking but they sound great over the YT.

Yes, you must gig it for The People!! Looks OK, especially for the price! We know you’ll do your magic on it and it will be just fine! I have noticed on these budget guitars the backs are usually not polished out like the face. I’m with that other guy that wishes he could burn up that fretboard like you🥵 Great unwrapping and demo!💥💪💪👍

Those marks on the back are caused by the lousy packing job,the guitar has just been sliding around in the box during transport.A little cutting compount (T-cut) and a lot of elbow grease should take care of it..........................................................

I think it strange that several of us who ordered the Honeyburst model had issues with those, but most people who say they got great guitars had the blue ones. Maybe something to that... in fact the company tried to tell me that the issues on the neck of mine was the coloring and the yellow dye looked like defects. Like someone couldn't tell the difference between colors and router (or file marks). Sorry, mini rant there (ha!). Rock on!

This guitar is CLEARLY better than the last one! However, I still think there are better Telecaster-type guitars out there for the money, both in terms of specs and in terms of fit and finish. Also, I agree with you that the color (as it comes across on your camera, anyway) is absolutely ghastly, and NOT like the dark blue finish they pictured on Amazon. Personally, I wouldn’t bother trying to upgrade this one… But that’s just me.
