This song is more creepy when you read wikipedia list about suicide in airplane. There is more than we think and Leo Ornstein predict the horrible feeling of panic when the pilot kill himself or try volontary to crash the plane. You can't escape. The cry and scream become more louder. The pilot is alone in his cockpit. He is also alone with himself. Why ? You will never know what happen in his mind at this moment. There is nothing you can do.

What does that have to do with this?

There's a very iconic character in a Japanese video game who's named "Ornstein." His symbol is the lion, which is where the Leo part comes in. The developer is thought to be a fan of this guy.

Such a shame that most of the recordings I've heard have been removed over time. However the silver lining is that more people are starting to appreciate lesser known composers like Ornstein, Scriabin, Syzmanowsky etc.

if this sounds familiar, it's because you've taken too much of an edible on a 7 hour flight

I think a transcription of this for 4 piccolos plus alto flute would sound fantastic

Really a free genius not shackled to any school .Lived to be 106 and unlike similarly long publishing centegenerian Carter pretty tonal een with his clusters . Very interesting figure from turn of century recognized by Hofmann at an early age . I wonder did the futurists or Bartok or Prokofiev ever hear this crazy guy !?
