I'm so glad Leo is with Drive. When the network first launched, I feared it would be another Farrah-esque endeavor with lots of big talk but no real experience or insight. Leo's constant stream of informed and passionate segments really gives Drive some credibility. Keep up the good work!

This is actually a fantastic video. The candid shot with Leo being properly honest about how he's feeling really coupled to the scene where he's looking over the car sets the scene well.

Fantastic video and with so much info about the track and being able to show/tell about the major differences between fast street cars & an actual racecar, this has become my go to video. Before this video my interest in actually going to a track and driving was about a 4, after this video it's about a 15 out of 10. Congrats to Leo and the team for putting this together.

awesome to see you out of the studio, out of interviews, and IN A CAR Leo!!! keep up the awesome (and constantly improving) job!!! thanks also for being so committed to truly educating viewers about the true meaning of racing, and the mechanics behind it. (letting idiots know it isn't just about putting your foot down on the accelerator and your heap of metal moves faster than the rest.) AWESOMEEE

Excellent video! I love the sincerity of Leo Parente, it's quite unique in sport journalism. We are so far away from row specs, top speeds and giggles at acceleration - there is a lot of tension there and I guess it's what driving such cars is about. I can't say enough how good Shakedown is!

Definitely Leo's best so far! Seeing the laps and hearing the commentary really work well to establish Leo's credibility. I feel like this should have been done sooner since it takes Leo's persona from someone who can sit in front of a camera and comment about upcoming street cars and modern racing to someone that knows what he is talking about and can put his money where his mouth is. Really enjoyed this one!

Leo is such a chap. Love this video. Its not like a racing driver explaining, "oh its like.. you just press the pedal, feel the G's and go fast.", nor is it Richard Hammond screaming his way around Silverstone's short circuit. Although that was entertaining. This is a very calm and understandable explanation of how a racing car works and how it compares to a road car. It could have been even more detailed, and maybe a Part 2 for the geeks would be quite nice, but still a brilliant video.

As comments widely agree this is one cracking good episode! Some lovely job done explaining the trickery of those race slicks, does sound quite sensational to be pushing the limits of such! Also, am i the only Gran Turismo player who suddenly became aware of the Infinion track missing from the current game is pretty much blasphemy?

First off ,your normal show is great I love knowing whats going on in motor sports ! I would also like to see you do more shows like this one .Burning tires up and overly modded car are great but not to many people can talk about how the brakes, suspension and tire work with the driver/car/road/track .I would like to hear you talk more about the set up of a car and what your looking for in a set up and how to change a set up based on the feedback of where you driving.

Leo! on the sim (@ 1:10) you can clearly see an about 1/10 of a second delay between the controller input and the screen, this usually occurs by v-sync (a graphical option), its probably sett to double or tripple buffer, tell the racesim guys to dissable it, it will make the sim experience a lot better!

I've always preferred maintaining speed to just trying to hit top speed. If you can hold on to a few more mph through a turn, versus having to let go of 20 mph going into the turn. Nothing like going through a corner as fast as the car will allow before putting you in the wall :) This was the perfect episode for me, i usually look at suspension setup more than i do tires time to think differently.

Leo, I've heard others make the same comment as you about going past the limits of a street tire versus a slick. Could you explain what it is that makes that happen in a later episode? Is it the tire compound, the structure, the lack of tread?

Great video. With the success that drive is having and Leo showing off some impressive knowledge I'm sure he'll be in a racing car in less than a year. ALMS or broke.

Learning how to drive a racecar is fascinating, and it is exactly what the target audience of this show, myself included, wants to see. However, the knowledge is a bit useless if we don't have a race car with slicks to try these techniques on. In a future episode, could you explain ways in which to get into open wheel or touring car racing? Ametuer or semi-pro, what are some classes of racing that one can get into, circuits or hill climbs you recommend? Simraceway would be a one method no doubt.

As always, great show. I'd like to see more of the sim and how it compared to the car. I'm wondering if a Director's Cut is a good idea here. It looks like a crap-ton of time and effort went into a 16 minute video, and I feel like so much of the story is left out. Did the tire differences come through on the sim? Did the HP make a difference? Why is JF so damned handsome? As always, awesome work, great stuff. Made my Saturday.

I know how good it fells to be behind a somewhat proper car & the smells, vibrations, feedback. a little jealous but still fell good you got another session or 2 in 1. The racing in a racer never dies, altough our medium does change with time. Good luck in coming across rides in the semi pro series, above all remember to have fun.
