Think about it from Leon's POV: He got close to $300K fighting Nate; Dana, according to Leon, was willing to up his pay substantially for the Masvidal fight. I'm guessing they're giving him $200K - $250K to show and another $200K - $250K to win... at the very least. Anyway, Usman defeated Jorge twice consecutively, with the final fight being a KO. So, logic just says, Leon knows, if he can't defeat Jorge, he has no business fighting Usman (again). Defeating someone you are sure you could, in Leon's head, and getting paid over $500K?, and after that you're guaranteed a title shot? Again, no better deal than that!

@@ronaldihnio4ever Yeah and what Masvidal needed to get noticed is not his attitude per say, it was his ability to start knocking guys out, something that Leon seems to refuse to do :) 10 fights with 2 finishes as a striker at welterweight is a garbage score, yeah he "won" them, but he entertained almost no one :) and the money for his food and living comes from entertaining us and being marketable, it doesn't come from having a record with mediocre and non exciting wins on them :P this isn't actually a "sport" as in you just win and you make money, that's not enough unfortunately, especially for a dude whom is a point fighter that takes 0 risks like Leon. Also his 10 win streak record, he defeated a single ranked person in all his 10 fights, and that was Vicente Luque, whom now is above Leon in rankings (which i totally agree with since Vicente actually destroys his opponents and finishes literally all of them) and looking on how both fighters evolved, i think Vicente will crush Leon if they fought again...this is just in case people were wondering why the UFC gave title shots to literally everyone until they will be forced to give it to Leon...because we all know Leon will put us to sleep and not in a good way and it won't bring in the revenue because he's a boring point striker that takes 0 risks...is this good enough explanation on why Leon is overlooked or should i continue? cause i got more =))) P.S. Leon will never have respect from fans or the UFC until he starts to actually take risks and finish people, he can have an awesome personality and be on a 20 fight win streak, if they are mostly decisions, people will still never respect him, and neither will I :P because i pay money to see people fight, take risks and go for finish, i don't wanna waste my money on a point fighter whom makes it his duty not to finish someone because he's terrified of getting caught and lose, and considering how long it takes him to get a title shot (of his own stupidity) one loss could mean he won't see the belt until he gets another 9-10 decision wins in like 4 years haha

No need to worry. Jorge is in a time crunch situation, at 37 and having lost 2 straight, with the last being a brutal KO. He's going to go for broke against any opponent, but especially Leon. He's not going to do a Romero-Izzy fight, standing in the middle, telling a counter striker Leon to come at him. Keep in mind, both Jorge and Coaches say they're only looking for a way to take him one step closer, again, to a title fight. Knocking out a top 3 opponent at 170 is the only ONE way he's getting back into title contention. What that means is, Leon wouldn't event have to be aggressive offensively to have a very lively exchange against Jorge. I'm guessing Leon might even do some wrestling practice attempts, if they clinch, since the title fight would be 100% against an elite wrestler, Usman being about 90% for sure. He lost to Usman almost 6 years ago, via a decision, only because Usman's superior wrestling. All the other 3 top guys who've fought Usman the last 2 years got TKO or KO.

This is a risk fight for both. Masv wants a trilogy and Edwards on the second best win streak in WW. If Masv loses, no trilogy. If Edwards loses, it will be a while before he gets a title shot unless he fights the other top 5. If Colby wins against Usman and Masv wins against Edwards it will be just as crazy for those two to square off.

Hmmm I don’t know about that , Masvidal has proven he isn’t easy to take down and hold down these days and the striking should be competitive with Masvidal being the more dangerous of the two in terms of landing Big shots. We will see if two guys that we almost never see hurt get hurt in this fight bc they are both coming off fights where they got hurt but Masvidal especially 😂

Then less likely but still possible is Leon winning easily but least likely of all the possible outcomes is Leon finishing Masvidal unless Masvidals chin got significantly worse from the Usman fight.
