leonard is the coolest person on the planet......
Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic til Im gathered safely in
Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Oh let me see your beauty when the witnesses are gone
Let me feel you moving like they do in babylon
Show me slowly what I only know the limits of
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Me to the wedding now, dance me on and on
Dance me very tenderly and dance me very long
Were both of us beneath our love, were both of us above
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the children who are asking to be born
Dance me through the curtains that our kisses have outworn
Raise a tent of shelter now, though every thread is torn
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic till Im gathered safely in
Touch me with your naked hand or touch me with your glove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Ay; Mine are also both gone and I do so miss them,. But at least we will reunite with them one great day. Myself I was with my precious wife 37 years then she decided it was better for her to go on alone without me, now I believe she regrets it as she is still alone going on 5 years. I found a girlfriend and have tried to love like that again but my heart still hurts for that precious love an eternal love for my future that was gonna be hers,. It's just not the same. I do so love this song, it has so much significance in it.

My mother died on May 21 of 2020. I was her caregiver for several years. The last couple of months of her life I would listen to this song and just cry and cry. She was my soulmate and we did dance until the end of love. Though I don’t believe there is an end to love, it goes on and on and is everlasting. This song always makes me remember that time but also fills me with an exquisite pain that has a beauty of its own.

"Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin. (Who comes up with that?!!) Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove.... dance me, to the end of love." Thank you for the beauty you gave us. You've touched us with your mind, poetry, and sound ❤️

“Dance Me to the End of Love” may appear to be a love song, Cohen has actually stated that the song was inspired by the Holocaust in a 1995 radio interview: “It’s curious how songs begin because the origin of the song, every song, has a kind of grain or seed that somebody hands you or the world hands you and that’s why the process is so mysterious about writing a song. But that came from just hearing or reading or knowing that in the death camps, beside the crematoria, in certain of the death camps, a string quartet was pressed into performance while this horror was going on, those were the people whose fate was this horror also. And they would be playing classical music while their fellow prisoners were being killed and burnt. So, that music, “Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin,” meaning the beauty thereof being the consummation of life, the end of this existence and of the passionate element in that consummation. But, it is the same language that we use for surrender to the beloved, so that the song - it’s not important that anybody knows the genesis of it, because if the language comes from that passionate resource, it will be able to embrace all passionate activity.”

Amazing how the poet and poetry music an vocals to sing about dancing to the end of love. Melodramatic, philosophic about life and love. It touches the soul of any being who has suffered in life and knows the hurts and mollified by human living experience. It speaks to such folks and all love the lyrics and the music. It means a lot more to mature and reflective people imo. Thank you Leonard Cohen. Your performances are immortal even if you're turned into the spirit you came from.

I was introduced to Leonard Cohen in 1967 by Leonard's cousin. We were classmates/buddies in Grade 6 at an elementary school in Westmount (Montreal) the neighbourhood of Leonard's childhood home. At his house one day my buddy pulled out Leonard's first album, saying gleefully "This is my cousin!" I was clueless of course, but intrigued. Even at that tender age of 12 something moved in me upon that first listening. Since that introduction Leonard's music has been with me, in my heart and soul as I have traversed this earth these many years. Leonard, your music will be cherished, discovered and re-discovered "to the end of time". Rest well, dear man, your earthly work is done. But you live on through your artistry.
