Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. A bit later than the originally planned release date of Dec 12th, here is a simple little Christmas arrangement I made around this beautiful song. It's fascinating how this one always finds itself on Christmas albums, even though it's not a carol or even Christmas-themed - but this trend only started recently. In 2008, UK X Factor winner Alexandra Burke and Jeff Buckley both had chart topping covers before Christmas, and this decade saw extremely popular Christmas releases by Susan Boyle, Lindsey Stirling and Pentatonix! However, it's also interesting to see that the original by Cohen was also released in December, also shortly before Christmas. It's very possible we're seeing a new Christmas carol appearing right before our eyes!! Hope you enjoy this (and perhaps get a chance to play it yourself before the holiday season is over), and I hope you had an awesome Christmas ♥

I've heard there was a secret chord That David played, and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music, do you? It goes like this The fourth, the fifth The minor fall, the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Your faith was strong but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you She tied you to a kitchen chair She broke your throne, she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Maybe I've been here before I know this room, I've walked this floor I used to live alone before I knew you I've seen your flag on the marble arch Love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah There was a time you'd let me know What's real and going on below But now you never show it to me do you? And remember when I moved in you? The holy dark was moving too And every breath we drew was Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Maybe there's a God above And all I ever learned from love Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you It's not a cry you can hear at night It's not somebody who's seen the light It's a cold and its a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Leonard Cohen's used "The Holy Dove" not "The Holy Dark" but the song has been covered and reworked so many times that there are many different versions out there. Not to mention there were so many verses he didn't include in the studio version, but would play live. It's an incredible song, that has meant many different things to different people.

'it's a beautifully constructed melody that steps up, evolves, and slips back, all in quick time. But this song has a connective chorus, which when it comes in has a power all of its own. Dont mind me L'manberg Anthem Well, I've heard there was a special place, Where men could go and emancipate, The brutality and tyranny of their rulers. Well, this place is real, we needn't fret, With Wilbur, Tommy, Tubbo, fuck Eret, It's a very big place not blown-up L'Manberg [Chorus] My L'Manberg, My L'Manberg, My L'Manberg, My L'Manberg [Verse 2] Well our faith is strong within this walls A sanctuary that would never fall The beauty of this landscape overthrew ya He made his throne and betrayed our land But we still stand strong and we hold our hands And from here i can see my lmanburg [Chorus] My L'Manberg, My L'Manberg, My L'Manberg, My L'Manberg o7 o7 o7

*I CAN DO YOU ONE BETTER* *I've heard there was a secret chord That David played and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music, do ya? Well it goes like this: the fourth, the fifth The minor fall, the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah, hmm Well, your faith was strong, but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew ya She tied you to the kitchen chair She broke your throne and she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Well baby, I've been here before I've seen this room and I've walked this floor I used to live alone before I knew ya And I've seen your flag on the marble arch And love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Well, maybe there's a God above But all I've ever learned from love Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya And it's not a cry that you hear at night It's not somebody who has seen the Light It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah*

I don't know why one would like to sing this during Christmas. This is not a happy song, but talks about love and betrayal. And indifference. The great urban son.

The song is so much sadder than the L'manberg anthem. Thanks Wilbur I know have to shut up Dream stans.
@mantisvessel70164 жыл бұрын
@@thecerealpope8209 a) If you took the time to actually read the lore of L’Manburg and the DreamSMP, you’d know how sad ‘My L’Manburg’ truly is. b) Just because you don’t like Minecraft or the DreamSMP or whatever inane reason you have for shitting on people being DreamSMP nerds together, doesn’t mean you have to shit on us. c) You’re using the term ‘Dream stans’ completely incorrectly. The DreamSMP was set up by the Green Man, yes, but the song is ‘My L’Manburg’, a song written by WilburSoot as the national anthem of L’Manburg, a fictional nation which Dream’s character is entirely opposed to.
