Doc Pomus, a childhood polio victim confined to a wheelchair, wrote this song, "Save the Last Dance For Me" for his bride as she danced with other men at their wedding. Doc would have been so moved by this joyous performance and Cohen's love for the audience and the music.

I have the same reaction- when the audience first sing along in the chorus- and the smile on Leonard’s face! I love it. And when he finally bows, hand on heart- true gratitude from the poet songster to his fans. 💝

I was lucky to be in the audience when Leonard performed all his songs for us. We never expected him to sing a song like "Save the last dance for me". A bit outside his usual numbers but we all loved it. Just listen to how the audience (I can't see myself, but I was there in the second row) responds to him. It really broke my heart to hear that he had died.

I love this man - and grieve that he doesn't appear to want to tour anymore. Love the look on his face when he realises that he has a very big and enthusiastic chorus from the wonderful Dublin audience.

I think is was a case of not being able to tour, rather than not wanting to.
@deliapegg72397 жыл бұрын
You are quite right of course Lee. Just a case of a sad old fan wanting him to go on forever. Its hard to remember the old saying that you should not grieve for what you have lost but be thankful for what you had and I am so glad I got to see him live at all when many people were not so lucky.

Yeh, nothing sad about it. I saw him 7 times. We are lucky his manager stole his money or I don't think he would ever have toured again

Ce concert magique fut donné à nouveau à Bercy pendant trois heures. Il ne voulait pas finir, Leonard était heureux, le public transporté. Rarement un concert m'a autant ému. These are the moments that ANY musician craves to experience and will treasure ... and some never truly do. Certainly a judicious choice of song; indeed one that many would not readily associate with Cohen but an evergreen that is known the world over but add that to an audience he already "has in the palm of his hand" and you get moments like this.
