Jhenkar M. S. IRK! I mean, for me, I think they resolved it to easily and too quickly, but really it was to add more drama going into season 9 and Shamy’s breakup did a lot of that for me. But that is why I hate Leonard, he was always so paranoid and didn’t trust that Penny wouldn’t cheat on him and never once when they were dating did she ever cheat on him and this season here when she did get insecure and jealous of Alex hitting on him, Leonard promised he wouldn’t cheat on her, and look at what happened on the North Sea. Leonard waited two years and right when they were about to get married to tell her and even assumed she might have cheated on him too - he’s such a hypocrite.

Sheldon said the right thing for the wrong reasons. Leonard needed to consider the impact it would have on his relationship and it would have appeared selfish to penny if he hadn't before he talked to her about it so Sheldon did him a favour by bringing it up, despite his jealous motive for doing so.

Look at what happened when he did: got drunk, made out with another woman, Mandy Chao and kept it from Penny for about two years and told her the minute they were off to get married. Never once did Leonard acknowledge that Sheldon was right and that he should have listened to him and not gone on the expedition. He probably never expected it to happen, but it did and he even told Howard and told him to keep it secret.
