It is so fulfilling when you introduce someone to Leonhard Cohen for the first time! Usually the next time you see them they are asking you "have you heard his newest"! I love to ask these young college age kids, have you heard of Leonhard Cohen? Of course most have not, you explain that all that music in Natural Born Killers was his, he has been composing since the early sixties and Neal Diamond, Johnny Cash, many more have done his song. When they learn that Louden Wainwright 1111 did not compose Hallelujah, bit it was Leonhard, then they learn they don't know all about music!

RIP, beautiful man, musician, and poet. What fascinates me about this music - take this song, for instance... is how broad it is. This could be about a lover he's leaving behind. Or America and what its become... or religious or any other limitation or dogma that no longer fits. he left "what it means" up to each of us. He didn't dictate what that "should" mean; he left us always free to interpret. Will always love Leonard and his music.

Agreed! Both were far ahead of their times, & (mostly) unappreciated for much of their lives - at least Leonard Cohen did a few live concerts (Many thanx, recorders & up-loaders!) before he went, had a private funeral with only family & friends, & didn't die as a result of a cover-up like Nikola Tesla did.

Finally got to see him live about 7 years ago when he came to Louisville KY. I drove 60 miles to mark off the top entry on my bucket list. I remember looking around the huge theater with no empty seats and thinking there may be hope for this world because about 75% of the people there were from their late teens to about 30 years old. His music will be touching souls and hopefully changing hearts around the world for a long time. I'm 70 now and he has been my favorite vocalist/poet since the late 60s.
