Since becoming aware of baroque operas I am just too bored with the music of most operas composed later than let’s say Mozart. Early Rossini is an exception. Thank you for uploading this excellent performance.

Vinci’s Music: The Carrara marble from which Pergolesi carved his Michelangelo-like musical compositions. Leo Depuydt (Brown University) The giant British eighteenth century musical historian Charles Burney, father of the author Fanny Burney, transmits a report that Pergolesi (1710-1736), who arrived in Naples from Jesi in perhaps about 1720 or soon after, wanted to leave school as a teenager and compose like Vinci. The urgent need is therefore for as much evidence about Vinci as possible. These arias from 1724-1729 are so essential. Vinci died in 1730 just when Pergolesi began composing at age 20. 1730 is a pinnacle node in the history of western music. I here Pergolesi everywhere in the robust melodic tonality of Vinci. What drove Neapolitan settecento music to the pinnacle of western music is that the hundreds and hundreds of composers were all listening to one another. In terms of competition, this was better than the English Premier League. It is time for recognition of this musical tradition as UNESCO World Heritage. Leo Depuydt (Brown University) 1

May I ask you, do you have transcribed the opening symphony (from which source)? Or perhaps does it exist an edition of it? Thank you in advance.

Alessandro nell'Indie? Hmmmm Not Semiramide?

This symphony opens the opera Alessandro nell'Indie (you can easily check a printed reproduction of it, or even a manuscript). I have also transcribed it fourteen years ago. Only the aria is from Semiramide.
