The hilarious thing about this decision (which is not to say I don't support it of course, this is just an excuse for me to share a fun history fact) is that all those pristine Roman marble statues actually *were* painted when they were initially made, and quite garishly too. The paint has just worn away into nothing over the centuries, so now all we got left is the equivalent to the non-painted figurine.

@@_piecake_ Her hair is white in the Serenity illustration this doll is taken from, the original Princess Serenity had white hair that was significantly longer than Usagi’s (likely to differentiate the two beyond just the dress). As a former modeler that built mainly Nissan Skylines and JGTC vehicles, this video of what at first glance looks like a $150~ish kit has me convinced that you took this thing and with your skillset, SINGLE-HANDEDLY put enough heart & soul into Serenity to turn her EASILY into a $500+ Garage Kit figure. Also, i know the Modeler's Struggle, so your relevance to my younger hobby days has earned you a sub. I'd be over the moon to see what you can possibly do if you were to try a GK of Jibril from NGNL on the minute offchance, but give her a custom color motif instead of her anime design!

Worry not friends, I'll tell you a tale with one simple plot, I refused to fall into slumber not til video is done.... Oh boy over an hour.... Should I watch later... No finish now!!! That was my process haha. Not as important as yours but I figured, you deserve my undivided attention right now!!!! Love the process and the end result 😊 absolutely love that you shared the full process, mistakes included. I can't wait to watch more of your videos. Very happy that this was in my recommendations. I have never made one of these figures, have no intention to ever do so, and have no idea how the youtube algorithm brought me to your channel, but I really admire the patience and level of detail you went to and definitely found the whole thing super entertaining. The end result was so so beautiful! I crochet, and being 100+ hours into a queen size blanket made with fingering yarn (thin yarn) and stuck on a boring but easy to f*** up portion of the pattern, I related really, really hard to the part at 38:20 with the tape. Definitely captures the feeling of insanity that comes with crafting. Excited to watch some more of your videos!

If you want to get into it I would recommend reading the manga because the 90s version wasn't accurate to the manga (that's why sailor moon crystal exists) but you watch the 90s anime if you want to it has cringy moments but it will make you laugh and sailor moon crystal is basically the serious version it's accurate to the manga and its pretty good in my opinion.

GIRL, you took us on a JOURNEY!! As a life-long figure collector, crafter and die hard Moonie, I’m going to need help picking my jaw up off the floor. 🤯😍😭💖 I’m deep into needlework as a hobby and work as a writer/filmmaker, so I definitely share in your perfectionism and love of detail work! But I can’t draw or paint worth my life, even though my dad’s a painter, but I found this absolutely mesmerizing to watch!! So glad the algorithm has been relentlessly recommending your video to me for weeks! I love to watch craft videos before bed, and so I threw this on, thinking it would lull me to sleep... NOPE!! I watched the whole hour and the time flew by in the best way. I LOVE that you kept your mistakes in, it gave me even more of an appreciation and respect for the finished product! It was amazing to get to experience so much of your process, and I enjoyed the jokes (I think ALL makers will relate HARD to your masking tape to the face breakdown!!) and I loved that you injected so much of your fun personality into this video. Everything - from how beautifully this was shot, the awesome scripting and editing of the video, and OF COURSE the figure itself - left me positively awestruck. This was truly a labor of love!! The figure came out GORGEOUS and you brought Serenity to life in such a mind-blowing, beautiful way, and I cannot gush enough about your talent! (The eyes especially, holy crap, they looked even better than the decals, there’s so much life and spark in your work. Naoko-san would be so proud! I even went back and watched you airbrush and Holo the hell out of that skirt again, it’s so satisfying to see and the finished product is exquisite.) I hope you feel incredibly proud of your work and the finished product, it’s beyond lovely. I’ve definitely subscribed and look forward to checking out more of your work! 💖

I had a pretty rough week (like most people, I assume). I was really panicking today because I worry a lot about my son and having him always on his own at such a young age for the foreseeable future. He's my first, so it's just us and his dad in the house. Today it's Mothering Sunday in the UK and it just really got bad for me, worrying about his development. I've been reading news obsessively and I couldn't think of a single thing I'd enjoy doing to try and keep some sanity. On a whim, this evening I just looked at the suggestions KZbin gave me and saw this video and decided to watch it: you really let me forget about my worries for a little bit and for the first time in who knows how long I just relaxed a bit. Thanks!

I come back to re-watch this video when I have a rough day. The final reveal is such a satisfying result to lot of hard work and I find it calming. The model itself is still very much my favorite kit that Leona's done. Beautiful sculpting for the kit plus Leona's extremely skilled paint job really make this Princess Serenity uniquely gorgeous.

Kudos, very rarely does KZbin actually show me an artist that impressed me from a standpoint of "I want to watch someone to learn new basic skills." I love the idea and way the dress turned out simply magical and the Resen thing is something I will also remember as well as I can see that coming in handy in other applications with my miniature projects.

This video was in my recommendations and I don't regret clicking one bit! Not only do I love Sailor Moon, but watching you go through the process to get this finished was an absolute ride(even if it was excruciating to watch you go through trouble too). It was just the right distraction during these difficult times. I immediately subscribed and will be following on social media as well. ♥♥♥ You are super fun to watch and I felt your pain during the more difficult parts, but wow the reveal was worth it. You are a GODDESS and Princess Serenity looks GORGEOUS ♥. Thank you for sharing and educating us, too! Stay safe!

I was actually having a pretty rough day today where nothing really seemed to pick my interest or enjoyed me, until I stumbled upon your video. After I was done watching I didn't even realise I had just watched an hour long video because it was so soothing (yes, even with the mistakes) and interesting. I know zero to nothing about this art form so everything was a new experience for me, but I am so thankful that you shared this video with us. I really felt a bit hopeless today, but this video helped me distract from it and taught me something in the meantime. I will definitely be checking out your channel more. Keep doing what you do! 🌙🌸✨

This is just wow! I have never seen one of your videos and I am not really into Sailor Moon or Anime, but I watch HeXtian and Poppen Atelier and this came up in my feed. I am just in awe of this work. I didn't know these types of kits existed. It is sort of like the miniatures and models that people create for DnD or model airplanes or cars. Watching you carefully tape off the petals to spray them with 3 different colors and then add the veining to give it even more depth was just mind-boggling. It is one of those details that someone might not even realize they are seeing but it just gives them that extra bit of depth and life. I see how frustrated you were and I hope that once you were finally finished you could take a step back and see the beauty that you gave it. I know sometimes it is hard to ignore the mistakes you see where it didn't turn out exactly as you envisioned but try to remember you are the only one who sees those flaws, to us they are just artistic choices. When looking at the whole thing, I love how her skirt has an iridescent quality to it. I can't tell if that is actually iridescent or if you sprayed a fine wash of pink over the bottom and then blue above that in the curve where the skirt swoops out into the flair. That iridescent shimmer over the white is just phenomenal. I don't know how many hours you spent on this but the painstaking lengths you went to are apparent in the final product. While the subject may not be something I know a lot about, I can still appreciate the beauty in this one-of-a-kind piece and it is so cool that no matter how many are created in the world, none will be exactly like yours.

I saw this in my recommended and decided to click it because of my love of Sailor Moon. I noticed the length of the video and had planned to skip around to random parts, but ended up watching the entire video. Your dedication and attention to detail are nothing short of spectacular. An absolutely stunning figure. When you were struggling with the frame and had repainted from the metallic pink I thought you would use a rose gold (maybe not something you had) but the silver with pink overlay turned out beautifully. You have earned a sub, and if you other videos are anything as good as this one, I am sure I will greatly enjoy them.

aaaaah so its princess serenity before crowned as neo queen serenity cosplaying as neo queen serenity (because of the hair minus the crown) hha, actually on the "Original" artwork (manga) the dress often shaded with blue and pink/purple, so you still true to the original design, on the anime adaptation the 90's anime took more liberties on the design, color palette, even some of the storyline and character personalities, but its still an enjoyable anime tbh, the crystal tried to match everything from the original manga source so i appreciated their effort, since I'm more used with the manga, anyway, your end result is stunning, and thank you for spreading knowledge about garage kits, model kits, etc, because I often saw comment complaining about its not a complete figure when it actually marked as garage kits.

For those of you asking about the metal plate I used to cut masking tape: I unfortunately didn't know where you can get this particular model as I purchased it (with great difficulty) from TaoBao many years ago via proxy, I don't have the listing name anymore and I tried to google it but nothing comes up, except other models of metal plates. I did a quick search on Aliexpress and fortunately, they do have it there tinyurl.com/wa89uw5 if you're looking for my model, it's listed as "Version 1" on the listing 😁 The plate does have shapes on both sides, so if you wanna try to purchase it there, let me know how it goes. Also for those asking about the music. All music was provided by EpidemicSound and incompetech (both provide RF music) Song used for the final reveal presentation: "Calling me" by Ooyy 🤗

For the fun n games you had with the golden colors, perhaps looking at non metallic metallic methods from miniture painting will be able to provide the looks you desire and be able to be sprayed over with the fixative. I REALLY appreciate the "creative liberties" you took painting this! I LOVE it! IT's beyond beautiful! I don't have the paint skills myself but if i bought one of these kits I would definitely ask my friend who does have those kinda mad skills to paint it just like your finished kit! Even if he made me pay though the nose for his work. it would be more than worth it! EDIT: I'm actually visually handicapped to a slight degree so doing one of these totally by myself alone is not worth ruining a kit.I'm not saying in any way that i would just wanna have someone do the task for me because i do not wish to gain the adequate skills to do so. I put this edit in because after some slight consideration I realized i kinda sounded like a loser who would rather just pay someone else and that is not the case. I actually have to prof read every comment or text based post i make for type errors several times before i put them out there for all to see as i have found i messed up so bad no body knows what actually was trying to say.

Really glad I ran into this video by chance! More so than just the craftmanship it takes to paint and complete this kit I think truly what I appreciated was you letting us see your trials. I'm still in the very beginning stages of customizing and often find myself stopping the moment I make a mistake - because for some reason my perfectionism insists perfect or nothing/not to even try - so seeing someone so skilled actually having to figure it out and push through their disappointment really resonated with me. Thank you so much for this and it all turned out beautifully.
