Side note on the video: I actually compared the gas mileage for the Honda Civic Si and the Acura RSX base model automatic. That was my mistake 🤦🏽♂️ gas mileage for both cars is roughly the same. I apologize for the confusion!

The biggest difference between the Si and Type-S that wasn't covered in this video is the significant difference in suspension. The RSX has a high-mounted steering rack, so when the car is lowered, tie rods are in an awkward angle causing loads of bump steer, mid corner wandering and many other undesirable handling characterisitcs. The Si has a far greater suspension setup, suspension geometry allows for a good amount of lowering, 6 degrees of caster help with high speed stability, keeping the tires in contact with the road in high speed corners, and the LSD all come together to make an extremely good handling car. Also, having driven both, i feel as though the Si has a faster steering rack, and heavier steering feel at speed compared to the Type-S. These were actually the main reasons i picked the Si over the Type-S. Simply looking at straight line speed to compare both cars is apples to apples, too close to really choose one of the cars simply based on straight line speed.

@FG2Zim26 күн бұрын
@ as long as the coilovers’s are relatively new, not seized and the car isn’t completely slammed you should be fine to purchase. if you’re only using it as a fun daily you’ll still enjoy it rsx is still a fun car regardless

The 2005-2006 rsx type s is the fastest and hardest car to find out of all the cars in this video. They run a very constant 14 to 14.7 with just bolt ons. Ive seen stock civic si run 15.2 to 15.7. Fastest bolt on si I've seen ran 14.5 but it was the 2014 k24 and it was tuned.

Having owned both (well, not a RSX rather a DC5R) I can tell you that the DC5 is nicer to own, easier to drive fast, and handles a little better than the FG2 I still own. The FG2 will be boosted soon...
@JonHop13 жыл бұрын
DC5 is a better car in all around.. The only thing the Si has that the DC5 should have had is the LSD.. But the Dc5 looks way better, handles better in stock form, and is lighter and easier to weight shave. The PRB may not be as good for top end as the RBC, but the PRB retains more torque and mid range. Peak HP really doesnt mean much for a street car. The Overall powerband is the most important and the usable power. None of us are sitting at 6K RPM most of the time.
@jonj43573 жыл бұрын
Isnt the steering and suspension geometry better in the 8th gen SI? I’d agree the dc5 is a better daily tho with the hatch
@JonHop13 жыл бұрын
@@jonj4357 Debatable. In stock form, the dc5 geometry is great. It only when lowering the Dc5 when the angles become exaggerated and need some modification/upgrades. Easily solved tho. Steering is roughly the same. The Type S tho is slightly lighter, and has less drag. It is a just nicer all around car. They are obviously incredibly similar being the same Maker with similar engine. Cant really go wrong either way, but one thing is the most important thing.. VALUE and RARITY.. Going forward, clean TYpe S's will retain their value and go up in value a LOT. As they are much more rare. They are also more desirable as they are the last Integra and they are just beautiful cars.

I do prefer the RSX's hydraulic power steering and cable throttle body vs the Si's electric power steering and rev hangy throttle by wire. The Si does have stability control for 07+ that's nice in bad weather.

Both great cars. You can make anything fast in a straight line. Just do some math on hp to weight ratio. If you got the will to build. Build what you like. Small cars are great on a budget. Building a heavier car to go just as fast takes more money. All these cars need is a decent tuner, driver, and fuel and for very little money can hit a nice quarter. High tens all day with the right fuel. Seen gutted k20 cars on race fuel hit high 10s in a light chassis. Videos are out there. With good tires. Just look up stock k20 cracks 10's 😂

I own a rsx type s 04 and my boy owns a 06 my 04 is faster because 05 and 06 are alil heavier so the 1 or 10 hp didnt make a difference and we both have the same bolt ons and i bull on him
@JonHop13 жыл бұрын
The 05-06 is faster.. the extra HP makes a LOT of difference as does the more aggressive cams and gear Ratios. No 05-06 should lose to an 02-04... If they do, its driver error. The 05-06 extra weight is mostly the seats and stereo.. The Bose sound system was an option, so many don't even have that extra weight. Its literally 60lbs.. This is easily removed.
@JonHop13 жыл бұрын
BTW, the difference is about 10 WHEEL Hp(which I have dyno'd myself)... That is significant. With the more aggressive gearing on top of the 10whp, there is not way any 02-04 with the same mods should ever beat an 05-06.
