For those who don’t know, the beautiful woman who’s dancing here didn’t sing ONE word. 100% true story. I met legendary jazz singer Catherine Russell after a performance in 2020 and asked her the question directly, “are you THE voice of First Be a Woman?” and she totally confirmed it. She was the actual singer. Not Lenore/Leonore O’Malley who was a beautiful woman and a great dancer. But not the singer. In other words, yes, very sadly, a Milli Vanilli situation.

@ChrisOtheBigC12 жыл бұрын
@TarantulaCandy What you are REALLY gonna dislike is the fact that Lenore O'Malley is lip-synching to a black woman's vocals. The record company thought she was a marketable face and figure, so she got the credit. The real singer is Catherine Russell on 99.9% of Lenore's songs!
@tarekbahsoun27556 жыл бұрын
you know I agree with you.I have known this song for 39 years and I always thought it was a black woman who sang, until the day I learned it was a white woman, and not long ago. At one point I even thought it was Gloria Gaynor who sang it

Unfortunately, Lenore O'Malley seems to be lip-synching to a black woman's vocals, whose performance was made to override O'Malley's. The actual singer here and in both of her albums and single hit by the title's name is the superb seasoned vocalist Catherine Russell.
