I love you guys and all the effort you put in for the voiceless beings. The honesty and passion really comes across the screen. You are really an inspiration for me to rescue animals when I'm older. My cockatiel in the pfp picture says high to you all. That was him/her when I was still handfeeding him. He loves to fly to my shoulder/head whenever he sees me, and I would do anything for him.

What an amazing story, and what a gentle and kind boy Pascal is! Every rescue story makes me more and more certain that I'm making the right decision quitting my job as a vet tech to apply to vet school so that I can specialise in exotics. Hopefully, in the future, I'll be able to set up a small reptile sanctuary as well. ❤

How important is sight to Leopard Geckos? Where does it rank next to hearing/smell/etc?
@maromania7
@maromania7 3 жыл бұрын
In the wild it's ranked pretty highly, they can actually see color even in the dark and it's how they hunt/avoid predators. That being said, in an enclosure Pascal can live fairly normally without it. Might need help hunting for if they use something fast like crickets, but leopard geckos have a great sense of hearing so they'll be fine with slower prey.

You can look that up online quite easily and get the information to call them up and ask if they need volunteers and what that you would be doing to help. Just look up rescues or sanctuary with the name of your city and state. You can also use the internet to look up any organization you’re interested in helping to make sure they’re legitimate.

Do the damaged toes grow back or is that permanent damage (I dont know these things - some animals can regrow weird stuff, lol)? At the end of the video they looked really good [the ones that showed, at least, but then again I have no idea what theyre supposed to look like so I could be wrong in feeling happy about it] And... is he going to get spots back? Why doesnt he have any? Was it from the shed issue or something else? lol, Im so ignorant and I have so many questions. 🐆🦎❓
@animalwondersmontana
@animalwondersmontana 3 жыл бұрын
Sadly, the parts of the toes that died and fell off won't regrow. Sometimes, if the toes are just swollen or have a small wound, they can heal and the skin will grown back over the injured areas. Your right about growing weird things back, though! Leopard geckos can lose their entire tail and the base will scab over and then completely regrow over the next year.

@@animalwondersmontana Thanks for 'edumacating' me! I'm very sad about the toes as no animal deserves to suffer like that but Im comforted that he's found a good home and you can keep tabs on him as he gets back to his healthy self. I do hope his eyesight gets better too and he gets spots. lol My brother had adorable Anoles [sp?] when we were kids and their tails fell off on occasion over their long lifetimes of us playing with them too much (the ones that didnt escape and hide under the bookcase where we couldnt recapture them, that is. Thankfully they were few.). 😭🦎 Watching their tails regrow was gross and neat at the same time! lol 🍃Nature is weird n wonderful in all its ways. I remember as a child (in the 70's) when seeing elders freeing part or other pretty birds bought as pretty pets for kids or their own selves, then doing the "good deed" by releasing them on independence day. They will pray us for their release, even as I child it didn't make sense to me, they have been inside the tiny cage for months, finally to be released to be hit by cars, I also wondered even when their shoulders weren't strong enough to reach high branches, what will they eat? Because idiots had been either feeding them with homemade wheat bread pieces and water, or rice, maybe even seeds? I donno which kind. Then the height of abuse? release them so that they can pray for us. That mentality still does my head in. But this was an amazing story of the leopard geckos rescue. Too bad I am mortified of lizards or anything cold blooded e.g. snakes, or bats, another stupid "parents what they do to their children" story. Otherwise my heart goes out to all animals,

So I’m just commenting on some videos hoping to get some advice for help, because I just adopted two leopard geckos that someone was giving away because they couldn’t take care of them anymore, and they really aren’t in the greatest of conditions. They are both females, and they are juveniles. I own another leopard gecko who is a male adult, and I’ve had him since he was a little baby. He’s the only leopard gecko I’ve had up until now, so I’m not as experienced as a lot of other people 😅 I just need help with this, because I was giving one of the leopard geckos a humid spa because she’s about to shed and I noticed scars on her body and scratches on the shed skin. Their tank is small, about 10 gallons I think, and they could possibly be fighting over territory or something else. I was originally going to just get them a larger tank and better hides and things for them, but now should I get them two separate terrariums? Also the person before me said they were feeding them superworms, and the geckos are pooping out almost full sized worms. I’m going to change their diet to dubia roaches since they are easier on the stomach, and small gut loaded crickets. Should I add anything else to their diet? And also should I go ahead and take them to the vet to get them checked out? Sorry that was a lot! I just feel so bad for these little guys and I want to help in any way I can 😢 also I really admire your work with helping animals recover! I loved seeing Pascal transform into a whole new happier looking leopard gecko :))

First, thank you for taking the two in and doing your best to give them a good life! Second, you're on the right track with care! I always recommend a vet visit to assess what their needs are on intake. Get a fecal sample as soon as you can as well. Until thr sample test comes back, keep them in a separate room from any other reptiles you have. These two should not be housed together, it sounds like they've already been fighting. Get two new setups put together and separate them as soon as possible. Your diet plans are good. Dubia roaches are great, as are crickets for this age. You can also add in wax worms, soldier fly larva, and mealworms. When they become adults, you can add in super worms occasionally. Make sure you're getting a calcium supplement in them as well. Wishing you the best!

She started eating a little after 2 weeks but she still looks like she’s losing weight and not looking good. She shed her skin today but couldn’t eat her skin and vomited the skin she did eat. What should I do??? I do think she has a parasite but I don’t want to spend $150-500 for vet services.

Uhg! "It's a wild animal. Put it outside and let it go," is an attitude that I've seen from generations born before the 1960s. Also, when a pet is having emotional, health or behavioral issues, "I'd get rid of it!" Not all animals get a second chance. When we take on animals, we take them on for the rest of their lives.

I took in a leopard gecko from a 13 year old kid who no longer wanted to care for him. Knowing I will care for this gecko for the next 15-18 years, I now believe this should never be a pet or domestic animal for children (nor some adults). The lifespan is too long to keep their attention let alone devotion to caring for this needs. 🙁

I went to a reptile expo this weekend and found a female leopard for 20$ that was a rescue and she was sooo skinny , barely even any fat in their tail, I had to take her and try and get her better glad I found this video , I haven’t gotten her to eat yet I got a bunch of wax worms and some electrolyte powder I was told to soak her in, still trying to get her to eat

Do I just put a worm in a dish everyday to see if she will eat it? Or should I wait a week or so until I know she’ll be hungry
