I just got a leopard gecko two weeks ago, and I am so happy with my decision. She has finally recognized me as "Food Beast" instead of " Scary Predator." She still gets spooked once in a while, but she knows if the door is open and I'm hovering, delicious buggies will soon follow.

Another good way to give your Leo some exercise and entertainment is to cover the floor and drain of a clean bathtub with a bath mat or towel. Can add something to climb on if you like (towel draped over box or just another jumbled up towel). Leo can’t climb tub walls but can run/walk/explore while you brush your teeth, etc. Any enclosed space with no (even tiny) escape routes can work.

Honestly, I'd switch from coco fiber to Reptisoil if you can find it. Coco fiber can be very dusty when dry, and cause excess humidity when wet. Reptisoil is less dusty, and can hold on to moisture if you need. I use it my humid hide, because I've been told that if your gecko ends up eating sphagnum moss, it can cause impaction. I like dropping insects in to let my gecko hunt without supervision unless she's refusing food a the time. Sometimes my crickets and dubias end up in the humid hide, so I figured it best to put Reptisoil in there as well so that she doesn't accidentally eat some. But then again, it looks like you supervise your gecko a lot more so the moss might be fine for your case. Also I heard you're not supposed to gut load your feeders with peppers; it's just something everyone in the community says so... I just never do. But I like the tile. I'm a huge fan of tile in gecko enclosures. And not to mention your hide setup and decorations look great. I suppose if you wanted you could include a bit more verticality for enrichment, but it looks like he has plenty to climb on. I don't know why this comment turned into an unsolicited tank review, but I felt like it was important after I ripped on coco fiber and sphagnum moss. Figured I should clarify that I don't hate it or anything.

@Dhanvanth Kesavan not turtle girl but i need you to listen very carefully: most reptiles dont like being in groups or even pairs, theyre solitary until breeding season when they do the do and leave. The only way you could possibly have two red eared sliders- even if theyre opposite genders and you are ok with the possibility of them breeding - you gonna need a HUGE enclosure for them to sorta have their own teritory or get away spot. Also you tell the gender by their front claws and tails: longer male shorter female. Also females are bigger size than males so require bigger enclosures Unless you have a baby then you need to wait for them to be older
@flintthepitbull82984 жыл бұрын
@Dhanvanth Kesavan also important thing to know: if you do in fact want to have two turtles, female pairs will have the lowest amounts of agression, it still can happen, just not as likely as two males.

Love your style and your gecko, he’s so cute! I have 3 Leopard geckos as well as a beardie, and a crestie. I keep our most elderly lizard in my preschool classroom, I enjoy showing the kids how to handle and care for him- valuable learning about habitat, shedding, and behavior (and responsibilities!) I also keep a Dubia colony, they particularly like a wet mossy hide or bowl for molting too- I also feed the feeder insects a dry meal specially formulated in addition to veggies. It’s neat to see your set up and great to have fresh reminders - like “repti safe” for water, I use the tap water that rests in a pitcher for 24 or more hours but will add repti safe as well. Thank you! Looking forward to viewing some of your videos too🦎💕

Assuming you mean mealworms, keep in mind that they’re not healthy for their main diet and should make up no more than 25% of their diet. I had a Leo too, she was the best hunter like Mandolorian type hunter.... she died in 2017 when I was an inexperienced owner and sprayed a cricket with Raid. she ran over to that spot and I tried to cover her with a light bean bag like nothing in there so that she wouldn't escape or run away because I was scared. then I picked her up and put her back in her tank... the next day she was throwing up, she shed her skin too early, and eventually she withered and died. Honestly, It was an accident as I now have turtles and I take full care of them and don't want anything bad to happen to them. I will be getting another Leo this Christmas and THIS time he or she will be fully taken care of with no problems.

is there any risk to using coconut fiber substate in a dish for enrichment?

Coconut fibre isn’t the best option since it’s unnatural and tends to be dusty when dry. It’s best to use a soil/playsand mix for the entire substrate (or at least half of it).
