The first time I heard this was at the end of a mushroom trip, and I thought I had permanently lost the ability to interpret language

The first (and only) time I got high I smoked way too much and I was watching tv. Each word made sense but I couldn't figure out what sentences meant for the life of me. Considering that's the one thing I've always had a knack for, I was a very annoyed high person. Not understanding my native language was not my idea of a good time, lol! This video brings back memories. 😂

At the time english songs were getting great popularity in Italy, Italian singer Adriano Celentano wanted to prove that italians would love everything that sounded remotely english, so he wrote this, proving his point since it was very successful. The reason why it sounds so good even if it's gibberish is because Celantano studied phonetics theory to compose this.

I was a barley an adult, from Wales when I heard this coming from the bars and discotheques of Holland and Belgium whilst on a coach tour with my parents and cousin from Gloucester in 1972. We were just about able to get in to the bars because we looked our age! We didn't have a clue what the song was about (obviously), I was an avid radio One listener (Obv') but it never got to the UK as far as I know! but with it's hypnotic beat and cool crowd sound it was like an instant arrow to the brain and heart. Was it the alcohol, the cute Dutch and Belgian girls on the dance floor with their Angora tops, the cool Continental culture or the music and floor lighting....probably all of the above. It goes to show that it doesn't matter what you say/sing as long as you sound confident! I will never forget the joy of dancing ( or just moving to the beat really) of this song and the welcome we received from the people Belgium and Holland so thank you and thank Adriano Celentano.

Celentano is one of the (many) icons of Italian culture (Italian culture e.g. cinema and music "used to be" of incredibly high standards). Thanks for posting .... and hello to the peeps from Eastborne (that reminded me of a scene from Fawlty Towers lol).

I heard from a stroke patient once that this song is like being in the middle of a left brain stroke. You can recognize the sounds. You can recognize the language that correlates with the sounds. You could even repeat phoneme by phoneme exactly what was said. Yet still, with all that, you can't understand what the fuck is being said.
