It's 1972 (the video should be taken from a later period, as Italian TV switched to colour broadcasting in 1977), and the context in which this song was written (according to the Italian pronunciation of English words) is related to Celentano's well-known critics towards American and consumer oriented lifestyle of the Italian society after the Boom years (1955-1968). Here, Celentano and Claudia Mori (his wife) are for sure making fun of Italian people tendency to perform American songs without understanding a single word of what they're singing, but, in a broader sense, they're criticising the inability to communicate of mass society.
