I wish so much I had seen this LEGEND!! of a man on stage, he kept in good shape, kept his full head of hair and his voice just the same as it was 50+ years ago well into his mid 80's BLESS HIM! 🙏

This man can still sing up a storm. Sounds just as good today as he did way back then. I have the original 45 rpm record and just bought a new turntable unit so I can start playing all my old vinyl again. Great, Great Song.

Thank you Leroy - this was the song that, as an 11 year old, set me on my career path as an auctioneer and which I have done across Australia and in Indonesia, New Zealand and the United States. keep chasing the team I say!
@olensoifer990110 жыл бұрын
You're not the only one! I probably heard this on one of my older brother's 45 records (backed by My Little Ponytail, as I recall). I, of course, had no idea that there actually was such a thing as "auction school". But, twenty years later (Class of ''82 perhaps?) I found myself at the Worldwide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa...owned, at the time, by Col. Gordon E. Taylor. I wonder how many people realize that, rather than just a musical performer, Leroy VanDyke is an auctioneer for real?

I came in after looking for the Auctioneer song after watching "The Callers" on Netflix. Yep, slow night with the snow and all... But, I've always been curious about that job and now the chant and now come across Anne & Lydia. You two have talent, I hope you go far and long in the entertainment biz. Thanks for posting this version, I enjoyed seeing it live.

Have met Leroy a time or two since we both lived in Sedalia, Mo. Always a gentleman, and if I'm not mistaken, the steel player on the far right is a friend of mine, tony Shaffer. Have worked with Tony on several occasions. Very talented all around musician. Tony can play nearly anything, and play it well.

my dad was in the canadian army and told us about this man in the US army who wrote this really cool song in his tent, in the hills of korea, then one day the song came on the radio, this was when I was a kid, I am 54 now, we were in the car on the way to school and my dad yells that's the song he wrote in korea, and they could hear him trying to make it ryhme all over camp., everyone loved the distraction, and they never dreamed it would be the only song he ever wrote. and a big big hit.
