American eagle is what LB recommended when I contacted them last year. I purchased the same pistol. Congrats...beautiful old school.

I had a Les Baer SRP and it took about 1500 rounds for it to fully rigged in and that thing ran perfectly .

Tightness is known characteristic of new Les Baers. Solidly built pistols, very accurate and reasonably priced for a custom gun. I have thousands of rounds through mine (5" Thunder Ranch) and it has never ever failed. It will loosen up with use - just keep liberally lubricated and you will love this 45. Thanks for the nice video - keep up the good work.

Great video. My Baer got better after the 500 round break in. Once I did the 500 plus a good cleaning it started loosening just enough to rack the slide etc. I've put about 1000 thru it. So far it eats everything and is very accurate. And the gun is just plain nice to look at.

Nice camera and great vid, but honestly I don't care if you're using an iPhone or the latest gear it's just great you're posting vids. Can't believe all the people who complain about resolution and mic quality on various KZbin channels. I don't see them making vids. Thumbs up matey keep up the great work.

I got my Les Baer Custom Carry about 3 weeks ago. I was worried about the tight slide before I picked it up, whether I’d be able to rack it. When I got in the car I got it out and even with all the oil on it it was no problem! I have 1000 rds through it so far and I will never sell it I love it! I trust it with my life!

My Premier II was tight as a bank vault when it was brand new, but after 1,000 rounds it was still tight but cycled smooth as silk! Got 3,700 round through it now, still tight and smooth. I don't think I've ever had a malfunction.
@TheOl19118 жыл бұрын
thanks for the comment - actually I am selling this LB to someone next week.... I have something pretty cool coming in... but even after 1k rounds this LB is still very tough to rack. Not sure why. It never had a malfunction though.

I’m having the same problem with my Les Baer SRP Comanche. I have to use the slide release. It won’t com back far enough to to rack the slide on a fresh mag. I have about 350 rounds threw it and it getting better (it’s almost there) so I’m hoping it will start to work soon. But it’s definitely annoying. Other then that it’s an awesome pistol.

I know some people advocate not cleaning the gun until after 500 rounds seems kind of counterintuitive to me you might think that "cleaning" i.e. oiling it would help loosen it up a bit
@TheOl19119 жыл бұрын
amacro11 yeah I don't know...but I did some more shootin' and have passed the 500rd mark now. Still running perfect but slide is still ultra tight.

I have been faced with the problem of people not being able to easily pull the slide back on very high dollar 1911 pistols. I now concentrate on doing extensive internal trigger work but I can give you insight why racking the slide on many 1911 pistols has become a nightmare. The bottom lugs of a 1911 barrel in a 5 inch government model must mate and conform to the exact radius of the slide stop pin. If your lugs are cut square they will not follow the curvature of the slide stop pin which is a must. I do suggest you contact Fred Kart or Briley both make very good barrels and have a new barrel installed properly and this will solve your problem. The fact that a person makes high dollar government model pistols does not mean he knows how to radius the bottom barrel lugs properly. Check your 1911 government model barrel lugs, make sure they are not cut square. Check out my channel, my blog and online store are listed there if you’d interested.

Did you slide ever loosen up?
@Rob_Moilanen6 жыл бұрын
As he mentioned a few comments up, he sold this particular 1911. Note all Les Baer firearms are notoriously tight when new and will take a few thousand rounds through it before they loosen up a bit, but even then it will still be somewhat tight, and that is intended to prevent "slop" and subsequent malfunctions from happening over time. These pieces are hand built to last several generations and be handed down as family heirlooms while still functioning as though they are brand new!

I've bumped into a few folks that perceived Baer as a lesser pistol based on price. Poor ignorant fellas... Each of the Big 3-4 make great guns - But a Baer will likely always be my first choice.

livebyreason very nice. I like Wilsons and Nighthawks but can't take the price tag, heheheheh. I've seen some used though which still are in the $2200-2500 range. Ouch.

Wait a year for a follow-up video....good to report on a gun after we've spent "enough time with it".....maybe even a "2 years later/5000 rounds" video....how is the gun over a restistic length of time use video. "Too tight"? I think that's actually a good thing. Just means the tollerances are good and will remain "tight....longr" ...allowing us to be more accurate longer....even if "accurasy" is always the shooter more than the gun itself..... Interesting it fed the Win "white box" with no problems....known for being finicky ammo....usually avoided (buying it).....

Hate range videos that don't show the target, just my opinion but like your other videos.
@Rot054 жыл бұрын
Far too many people want a "tight" 1911. When in reality they should want one that has looser tolerances. (Similar to an AK47).
