FILM DESCRIPTION:
After 19 years as a prisoner, Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) is freed by Javert (Russell Crowe), the officer in charge of the prison workforce. Valjean promptly breaks parole but later uses money from stolen silver to reinvent himself as a mayor and factory owner. Javert vows to bring Valjean back to prison. Eight years later, Valjean becomes the guardian of a child named Cosette after her mother's (Anne Hathaway) death, but Javert's relentless pursuit means that peace will be a long time coming.

I listened to the live versions of this song from the 10th anniversary and 2020 staged concerts and while the audiences got a kick out of the song in general, that line gets the biggest laugh. The audience at the 2020 concert even had a reaction that was like, "Oh, snap!"

​, Yeah but that's kind of the point. Sacha isn't known as a singer, particularly not trained, but this is more spoken-word singing, so you get away with it. Also, in the theatre production, this is the number where the English cast takes a tongue-in-cheek approach at the French, so the main accent holds to cockney, but yes, in the film it did jump around a lot.

Having met my ex fiancée, how could she not? I don't necessarily know why it is like this but I see a pattern: from the deepest darkest shitholes seems to be found the purest gold.
