I was in several amateur shows with Bradley Jaden: Oliver, Godspell, Pirates of Penzance to name a few. The guy just couldn't hold a note, yet now he's mastered his barritone range and can now sing Valjean! Just goes to show what proper training and commitment can accomplish!

He sings Javert, not Valjean......Interesting comment.

Colm and Ramin, however, such a demanding role and all are vocally lovely.

The Valjeans I have seen: *J. Mark McVey - Los Angeles 2011, 4th US National Tour *Peter Lockyer - San Francisco 2012, 4th US National Tour *Ramin Karimloo - New York 2015, 2nd Broadway Revival Between the three. Ramin definitely tops them. I also saw Andrew Varela as Javert in 2011 and 2012. On another note, RIP Kyle Jean-Baptiste.

Compared to Javert's variation, my favorite has to be Jean Valjean's because this one is bright compared to Javert's. Even though Valjean is starting a new life, it's almost like his way of saying "They can do what they want to me. I'm not gonna give up hope!"

Excellent video. Too bad Michael Burgess from the Toronto production is missing. He was an amazing Valjean. He was Valjean at the same time Colm Wilkinson was playing Phantom in Toronto.
