Just a couple things to assist you with resawing hard timbers like mahogany, go for 4 teeth per inch, 5/8 wide is adequate wider if you have the capacity,. Make sure the guides are nice and close to the blade and the thrust bearing is nearly touching the back edge of the blade, have the top guide down near the the surface of the wood. Anything more than 4 TPI blade and it doesn't clear the saw dust well. You will get a better understanding of how the wood will look if you dress the plank face prior to glue up, that rift sawn board could have been joined to look like one board, but the book match idea is also Ok. Cutting the neck plank from the face side left you without adequate thickness to make the head stock angle, too late now but you could have done an edge cut and then glued on wings to make the width like Gibson does. It's easier to hold, plane, clamp and glue up boards while they are still square stock then when the glue has set cut the shape. Fix your bench so there is no movement, we are all guilty of putting stuff off but you will benefit from it next time you plane up some hard wide boards like those ones used here, takes a lot of force to true them well, you want maximum stability to keep the plane level. Good luck.

Scarf joint for the neck? 🤔
@MosalGuitars

yes, unfortunately it was the only way in which I cut the neck blank from the one single piece of sipo that I got, I really wanted the neck and body to be from the same board so something had to give

@@MosalGuitars I'm doing my first scarf joint on a build now. I'm hoping that it turns out as well as yours did. Great job!!! 👍

Realise this comment is too late but why not use a lesser headstock angle?

I’m trying to follow the original design of the guitar, a lesser angle would result in less of a break angle of the strings over the nut, reducing string tension. This may lead to poor tuning stability and or the strings slipping out of the nut slots while playing. It has been argued since the design what the ‘correct’ headstock angle should be, if any when comparing to fender style head stocks

I did around 10 degrees on my SG thing. Plenty of tension. Seems to be pretty optimal. But if you are sticking to the original design then 14 or 17 is the number… depending on year.
