These guys were really good. They had the misfortune of being a horn based, jazz tinged band exactly at the same time as Chicago, Traffic and Steely Dan (Blood Sweat and Tears were just dreadful). There was room for all of them so I can only imagine they had a shitty label who did not promote them or something like that.

In his prime, Les could play way tastier licks (he had a far larger bag of tricks) that were way more melodic and utilized more than just the pentatonic scale.
