I don’t think when they created this scene there was anything to fight, they had full freedom to do whatever queer rep they wanted, it’s just they didn’t know if that line fit Vi’s character. One of the writers said they kept it in because lesbian rep is always buried in subtext, or something like that, so having Vi be so forward was a clear “I’m attracted to you, I’m gay” moment.

Cait was very comfortable in the brothel and also Amanda shared a script from a deleted scene in the brothel: WOMAN: “I have to say, it's always nice to meet another curious woman...” She means hot. She's laying it on. Caitlyn's got her primed for secret spilling, but -- She just now notices Vi's gone. Shit. Caitlyn leaves a disappointed woman in her wake. So I think the fact it's not that the other woman was submissive but that Caitlyn is as dominant as Vi but each in her own way.

So if you didnt understand that at the very end, When Silco said “from the dead,” he assumed vi was dead. This is because when Marcus took vi in episode three, Marcus threw her prison, and then told silco she was dead to protect vi. Thats also why earlier in the episode, cait realised that vi had no criminal record. Vi was put in the prison and there were no questions asked. So Marcus did protect vi by making people think she was dead, but that doesnt change the fact hes still a jerk for locking her up.

There are a lot of canonically lgbt characters in LoL, Vi always refers to Caitlyn as cupcake (fun fact one of Caitlyn's attacks on the game is a trap with a cupcake) and well, LoL's story is years after the Arcane story, (I don't consider the following to be a spoiler because it's too obvious but I'm still warning you I guess) . . . . . . . it's pretty much implied that Caitlyn and Vi are a couple, especially with a dialogue between Vi and Sarah/Miss Fortune (she is always flirting with Vi) Sarah: Vi! i should have brought flowers Vi: Hahah try cupcakes Or Vi saying "Cupcake cant be mad at me"

On episode 4 when Silco is scolding Jinx for the attack at Academy Square, you can see the granade with the Firelights symbol that Silco gave Marcus to frame the Firelights. At that moment Silco had just found out about the attack, BUT the granade was already painted, wich means, the idea to frame the Firelights using the granade probably didn't came from Silco but from Jinx.

One thing I loved about Caitlin is you can see how quick she was to see other sides to the people in the Undercity. Like, yeah surface level, she's with one of the girls in the brothel. Dialogue? She's telling the girl about the gardens in Piltover. And the girl was legitimately saying she could never imagine something that beautiful. That's sweet, and probably both a memorable and kind interaction for this character that we never get to see again. And as the episodes go on, we see Caitlin continue this pattern of extending kindness where she can.

Love some of the imagery used in this episode. For example, Silco changes his violent origin story on Jinx and turns it into a gentle baptism for Jinx contrasting how Vander nearly violently drowned him in the river and he emerged as someone different. Also, the bunny crucified in Jinx's workshop implies she still worships Vi, and then there's Mylo's laugh when Jinx succeeds in getting the Hexgem to work. Mylo represents the worst of Jinx's doubts and insecurities and his haunting mocking laugh imply that she's going to f**k it up in some way. Also welcome to the Cupcake Fandom

@aims There's another youtuber named Schnee that does analysis videos on Arcane and he pointed out something interesting about Vi's tatts. If you notice Vi has two keys tattooed on her back with Mylo's and Claggor's initials on them. Forgot what tatt she got for Vander. It's Vi's way of honoring and remembering them but at a glance, Vi has no tattoos that seem to mention or honor Powder. Until you look at Vi's tattoos as a whole Every piece is a cog, piston, or some kind of clockwork component. And what was Powder's thing, she tinkered and built machines and her goal was to make a device that worked and functioned. All the cogs, gears, and pistons are VI's way of honoring Powder. Going away from Schnee's analysis I would say that Vi was looking to become the perfect device that Powder wanted to build or Vi wanted to be the perfect older sister for Powder. It was her way of saying "You're my drive and purpose. I will be the device that will work and not f**k things up for you."

@Zach Hogan except it hasn’t. In lore there has been zero reason given for why she works as an Enforcer so Arcane is free to make up whatever explanation they want for Vi joining up with them. My best guess is she does it to stick with Caitlyn after the end of season 1, since Cupcake’s going on the warpath imo. Plus she’s gotta get her gauntlets somehow. Either way, she’s still an Enforcer. That’s not been retconned in the slightest.

I knew you would be loving this episode ^^ - The Caitlyn & Vi ship is offically known as "Piltover's Finest" or since Arcane aired "Violyn" The "you are hot cupcake" line is so iconic now and they managed to write that without being cringe. This ship is the best written gay romance i've seen on screen so far. It feels natural developed and complements the main plot with it's ups and downs. This romance is a side plot and therefore no priority but adds so much to the entertainment factor. VI's face tattoo "Vi" is a pun on her prison number "516" The violinist is animated after a real person " Ray Chen" who wrote a lot of music for Arcane/Riot Games - just like Imagine Dragons. If you are into music I can recommend the Samuel Kim Music channel- he did a lot of Arcane Covers. I especially like the Goodbye | EPIC COVER (Feat. SORAH)

As a straight, boring guy who has no real interest in the voyeuristic aspect of it, yes, let's have some Vi and Cait. They are just infinitely cute and they need to happen even more than they already have :D I love how it wasn't made into a huge deal, they just sort of cautiously flirting and it's so wholesome and nice, I adore it :) Hmm I say cautiously. Vi is straight up aggressive frankly but that does seem to be her style. I disagree with your opinion about Sevika, Silco's right hand woman, however. I get why Vi calls her a traitor, but I don't think that's fair. She told Vander she wasn't happy with his stuff and didn't want to play by his rules, then up and left. Seems fair to me. All she's done is follow her convictions and be pretty damn stand-up for what she believes in. She may be a hard case and brutal to boot, but overall I find she's pretty blameless and mostly just decent.

Sadly, we likely won't see the same intimacy between Vi and Caitlyn. Just like Blizzard, Riot relies heavily on its Chinese audience, and China's government is not big on queer stuff. It's why this season limits its most overtly queer bits to dialogue. "Man or woman" can be changed to "what sort of man" in the translation, but anything visual will only work if it can be edited out for the Chinese release. That means we'll probably get a brief kiss, but no longer depictions of intimacy.

In defence of Marcus.... it seems his respect for Greyson coupled by his actions and the part he played in her death seemed to cause him to follow in her lead in keeping the peace between Top-Side and the Undercity by maintaining a truce with the latter's leader to stay out of each other's business. Unfortunately, unlike Greyson who worked with Vander, Marcus had Silco to deal with.

I don't think that's entirely the case to be honest. It's very clear Act 2 Marcus regrets getting involved with Silco. He also clearly realizes what he's doing is wrong. But the clear impression I had is he's operating out of self-preservation. It's not that he's trying to keep the peace with Undercity, I suspect he's as every bit bigoted towards them as he always was. It's just he's now trapped. I doubt his superiors would care that he got some Undercity residents killed, or even that he took money. But I imagine they'd care very much that he got caught taking money and even more so that he got Grayson killed given both her prominent position as Sheriff and her seemingly decent position in Piltover society given her familiarity with the Kirammans. Any of that gets brought to light and he's either dead by Silco's orders or tossed in Stillwater.

The way he reacts also tells us that he genuinely had no idea Vi was alive. Which means Marcus lied to him, there's no way Silco would have forgotten to ask Marcus what happened to her, he's too calculating for that and she did prevent him from getting the revenge he wanted on Vander with the bridge standoff. Until Powder stepped in that is.

The point of having Jayce and Mel's love scene show during the blood interaction with the hex core is to illustrate what is actually going on; the act of intercourse; AKA the creation of life is the symbolism that is transforming the hex core into a living entity.

Powder revisiting the arcade is a very multilayered scene. And with no dialogue from Powder, every little detail is impactful and communicates much needed information to us, the audience. First, we see Powder point her pistol at a crow that perched on the gunslinger game. The crow is an interesting choice to symbolize Jinx because of its association with death and darkness, but also because a crow can mimic other voices and sounds like a parrot. Voices that jinx can hear, perhaps? Second, Powder considers the bird for a moment and then shoots it. This tells us about how little she cares about causing death, even to a harmless bird, minding its own business. Third, Powder shooting the bird so efficiently is a testament to how talented she was at the gunslinger game as a kid. And how much she’s improved since then. She knows she would have no problem beating that game. So instead, she moves onto Vi’s game, looking for a challenge. She fixes up the game and prepares herself. We see Powder channel everything she remembers about Vi, the good and bad memories, to drive herself forward. But when she is exhausted and waiting for the result, we see she is anxious to see the result. But she doesn’t beat Vi’s high score. And she shoots the game in rebellion. Just like with the bird, in a single gun shot, we get multilayered information told to us at once. First, Powder coming in second lets us know just how powerful Powder is compared to Vi. And therefore, we can have a reference to their skills and how much they’ve improved since then. This gives us the foreshadowing that if Powder and Vi were to fight each other now, after years of being separated, then Powder would lose if it came to a contest of strength. Second, Powder coming in second to her sister’s top score is upsetting to her. She couldn’t beat the high score Vi had when Vi was her age. Powder knows if Vi were out there (which we know to be true) then Vi would’ve only improved since then. (Which we also know to be true because Vi indicates she was beaten on a daily basis in prison and we see her practicing punching a solid wall.) That’s why the scene ends with Powder getting frustrated and shooting at the game machine. Powder wanted to have some ritual/ceremony as proof of beating her sister. To be able to point to something as evidence that Powder, herself, is much more powerful than she was as a kid. That Powder now is better than Vi was at that age. But she doesn’t get that validation. So Powder gets angry and shoots at the game, in an act of rebellion to say, “I don’t need strength. I got my guns. Why should it matter how strong I am if I can kill my enemies this way?” But she’s not laughing. She’s angry. She wanted to beat the game. She put everything she had at beating it. But it wasn’t enough. So she shoots it, angry, to try to kill her hurt feelings for caring about the score. For caring about being able to beat Vi. For caring about Vi. And to top it off, we enter the next scene with Vi standing outside The Last Drop, obviously looking in the first place she could think of to find her sister.

A nother sad detail about Vi's childhood is that she knows the people working in the brothel and how the place works, considering the last time she was out of prison she was 15/16 and probably knew all that for quite some time before hand. Its just a nice hidden detail on how different and harsh Zaun is. There are no illusions, no sheltered childhood.
