The portals didn't raise any questions in my head. To me they seemed perfectly natural. It's like why r certain rocks a certain shape? There is a geological reason, but for most people the answer "they r just a wonder of nature" is enough. Same with these portals. I mean, nothing seems to suggest they were created by smth.
