You care about Michael but other people care about other characters, if we had to keep everything exactly the same then we would never make things more inclusive for minorities that are not represented. Losing Michael in the big picture is not a big deal - it's the n-th "normal" love story with virtually no romantic problems to overcome, as Francesca is a widow that wants to have children- instead having Michela makes things spicier. Just give it a chance, that's all I'm saying

I am not angry because I am hetero. I am angry because I love the books. One of my favorite book series I have ever read. Why should they change the main couple? Who needed this?? I am angry because this is not an adaptation. This is so far from that. This book series is about straight couples ( I have no problem with gays I have gay friends :) ) so why couldn't they just let the characters stay straight? Would that hurt them or what?

The scene actually makes a lot of sense, because in the book, Fransescas husband passes away and then she ends up woth his cousin (though a man in the book). For context, Francescas husbands cousin has always been in love with her but since Francesca wants children the cousin runs away for a bit. The cousin then comes back ready to commit but Francesca has a hard time to have children. I believe she also had a miscarriage when she was with her deceased husband too.

I think they are going to let John live a little longer than the books , enough time we can still get her infertility story and for her to be able to finally have a child . Hopefully she has a son before John dies that way they all will still be financially set , (seeing as tho Micheala cannot inherit John’s title).Micheala will step up to help Francesca after John dies and BOOM ! That way , we can keep most of the book , but still find a realistic way she can be with Micheala and not piss the fans off TOO much .

I think the growing consensus is Francesca would have a surviving child from her marriage to John. In your scenario "Michaela will step up to help Francesca after John dies." But here is something I have not seen anyone address. Michaela is a young woman of child bearing years. If Francesca is queer/lesbian but still desires to have children, why wouldn't that be the case for Michaela. Don't worry, I'm not mentioning this as an argument for why the romance can't work. Rather, my particular concern has to do with Michaela be black. Why does everyone assume only Francesca desperately desires to have a child. Men typically want children for the bloodline and issues of legacy and descent. In the Bridgerton world building the Black nobles are read the riot act regarding having children. Lady Danbury endures a horrible marriage because her parents expected her to do her duty. Again, this is not about why Francesca and Michaela shouldn't be together. My point is simply everyone keeps looking to Francesca's expressed desire for children. That's logical it is a running theme in the book and essential to her particular character arc. All I am seeing is that it troubles me that the Black woman's desires are limited to her sexual desires. If Francesca has a male child from John, then she throug her son inherits John's wealth. What about Michaela? Is she supposed to be some long term "roommate" and has nothing to pass down? There is a tendency to stereotype and pigeonhole black characters. Being queer/and or hypersexualized is that the top of the list along with the mama/big mama trope. The showrunners can come up with whatever angle they want. But I hope someone is paying attention the optics. Queer people want representation. They don't want to be stereoptyped or marginalized. That's fine. It bothers me that Black Micheala, unless someone does or writes something, is dependent on a white woman with no fortune of her own. She will co-parent but not have children of her own. At least this is what I am hearing when people imagine how this Francesca Michaela relationship will play out. I pray they do not Michaela a libertine the way Michael was. That is a huge stereotype for black women -- they are the ones with no morals and sexually promiscuous on screen.Lady Danbury has an illicit affair. Her conjugal scenes with her black husband are the subject of ridicule. They are comical. Why is that? Lady Danbury had an opportunity to marry a respectable and affluent Black aristocrat and have children, and she rejected that proposal. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know she wanted freedom. But this just falls into that trope that is played out over and over again on screen when Black women are involved.

Nathalie Emmanuel could've been perfect as Hannah Dodd's partner. Too bad Bridgerton makers didn't go "all in" on this sapphic storyline. Casting for gender swaps is a very challenging task. You have to choose someone- who can make a straight person say "I'd go gay for her". Mediocre casting is simply not my thing.

What the book readers claim that Francesca and John supposed to have a truly loving relationship. Now it seems she will play with his feelings while falling for his cousin. This will make Francesca into an unlikable character. I am all for a queer character but book readers are disappointed about the complete change to this character. Not the queer relationship but the lack of love for John and the lack of coverage of her infertility issues since she cannot have a child with Michaela.

Francesca can still have her infertility story and journey to motherhood(why not?), and I didn’t see a “lack of love” for John. I saw a different kind of love for John. In fact, they did a great job at showcasing the type of love and mutual understanding that exists between Fran and John. What we saw between Michaela and Fran was a simple spark-not even a full flame. The book readers are not mad because Fran’s story is ruined. The most important parts can still happen. They’re mad because they want a male character to swoon over even though the character doesn’t have to be one. They also don't want a queer woman's infertility story--they want a straight one. Besides, many of them complain about the 2nd epilogue/“miracle baby” trope anyway. What’s wrong with them possibly changing it to adoption?

I was so thrown off and offended for Francesca by the fact her husband did not introduce her to his own cousin and regarded her almost like a stranger in this moment, that I completely misunderstood the moment and didn't see the queer eye, I just thought she was upset by the coldness of her husband and the apparently closeness he has with another woman, even if she's a cousin yeah. Maybe that will be part of it. Excited to see. But I was so thrown off by his aloofness here in total disrespect of his wife after the way he had treated her and her family so well thus far.

I did not like this change at all. I know adaptations are needed, but I do not care for radical changes. In my opinion the author must be respected. If she wrote the story in a certain way, that way it should be. Fortunately I have all the books and I can enjoy the stories as they are.

If they wanted to highlight a queer character, it makes more sense for it to be Eloise not Francesca. Fran had such a sweet introvert on the spectrum romance with John. It doesn’t make sense for her to completely change like this. Not all love is over the top, fiery, hot romance. It can be quiet and deeply felt. Fran and John had that quiet, slow and deep love. I am disappointed that they took that away from us.
