Beautiful song from Lesley Gore of 1963 🎉❤

Great Quincy Jones early 60s record. I think that he had already transitioned fully from Jazz to Pop by this time. 1963? That man knew how to produce smash #1 hits! Leslie had a great voice for it.

And 60 years later, I am still playing my Lovely Leslie Gore that shared so much of her music with us from the early 60's until she went home to meet our Lord Jesus!

Well hell yea, Leslie came out as being Gay,! I did not understand Gay until I found my oldest son was Gay! Then I listened to both Leslie Gore and my son to figure out how to deal with their love angle!

It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to Cry if I want to Cry if I want to You would cry too, if it happened to you Nobody knows where my Johnny has gone But Judy left the same time Why was he holding her hand When he's supposed to be mine? It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to Cry if I want to Cry if I want to You would cry too, if it happened to you Play all my records, keep dancing all night But leave me alone for awhile 'Til Johnny's dancing with me I've got no reason to smile It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to Cry if I want to Cry if I want to You would cry too, if it happened to you Judy and Johnny just walked through the door (walked through the door) Like a queen with her king Oh, what a birthday surprise Judy's wearing his ring It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to Cry if I want to Cry if I want to You would cry too, if it happened to you Oh, it's my party, and I'll cry if I want to Cry if I want to Cry if I want to You would cry too, if it happened to you It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to

That's one cringe hairdo she's got while singing in that club. The best looking girls there are the go-go dancers and all the guys are wearing coats and ties like a bunch of squares from the local aerospace company. I was a teenager at the time of Lesley Gore's popularity, and most of us would just laugh about her. Now I remember why.
