I do not have any spare blanket plates that I would be willing to sell. They are simple sheets of aluminum that you could have any metal shop cut to size for you. Or just use a bolt through the air inlet hole, rubber washer against the manifold and flat washer on top of that works great.

the rs25, that sounds familiar because a guy used that sound for a leslie a125 air horn on a dlc for a game.
@Ethan_the_Railfan Жыл бұрын
The 25 plays 255 hertz. So It basically plays a C. a C plays 253 hz. So you could technically say that it plays a C because 255 is closer to 253. Rather than 246 hz. 246 hz is a B.

@wwrr98 It's the frequency in Hz that the particular bell plays, truncated to two digits. For example, a 44 bell plays at 440 Hz.
@Ethan_the_Railfan Жыл бұрын
a B note plays 493 hertz and The 48 bell plays 480 hertz. And an A# plays 466 hertz. So I guess you could call it playing a B because 480 is closer to 493 than 466.
@mafarnz14 жыл бұрын
@Alwaystrains The 31, 37, and 48 came with my RS3K. The 25 came from my RS3L. The 44 came with the single chime manifold & the power chamber used in the video (as a RS44). The 55 was bought from a fellow collector.

@five0fan Well, I'm not 100% sure my RS44 is from an M1. When I first got it, the power chamber and manifold were is the red Leslie primer, so they had been fairly recently replaced. It may be just the 44 bell is from an M1, or it may be somebody that lived in NJ pieced togeather an RS44. I don't really know for sure, but I like to think it's an original LIRR RS44.

The RS25 was also used on the Milwaukee Road’s A Class 4-4-2s, which were designed to move at over 100mph. I think. It’s in K&L Trainz’ Hiawatha addon, though they say it’s an A125. Are those two horns similar?
@mafarnz6 жыл бұрын
It was an A-125, and the two are VERY different. The S25 wasn’t invented until 1953, and the RS25 the improved version of the S25 came out in 1978. The A-125 is a Leslie Tyfon type horn, the S25/RS25 are the Supertyfon types. Different mechanically. The Tyfon horns date back to the 1930’s. I have. Not something Leslie ever would have offered, it basically a five chime RS3L. I've heard of railroad shops sometimes doing that, and sometimes horn blasters will do it too thinking it somehow makes it louder to have more than one of the same bell.

Just stumbled onto this video and it is a little over 11 years old at this time. Great video but you mention that the weather changed while you were testing. I did notice the las couple of bells were a lot higher than you mentioned. I hear the 48 as a B and the 55 as a flat D. Both a little high. The rest were close enough in my opinion. Maybe the colder temps? I enjoyed this a lot!
@mafarnz3 жыл бұрын
Certainly could be the temp. The fact that I was using an RS chamber is also a factor, RS chambers do raise the pitch a slight bit.
