I had a dream that I died and went to heaven. I just barely squeaked in. So I am standing there talking to Jimmi when I look over and see Eddie. So I says "I did not know that Van Halen passed away". Hendrix relies "That is not Eddie, that is God, he just thinks that his is Eddie Van Halen".

Leslie West is definitely old school. These days its all about how many notes you can play in your solo. With Leslie its about making every note count. He can do more with 10 notes than most guitarists can do with 100.

Leslie West took one song, shot a cannon ball sized hole in the side of the rock & roll ship; and it's never been the same since. In the beginning Johnny B. Goode had become the standard rock song to get your ya-ya's out. Then came Mississippi Queen.

Man I grew up in the 80s and I loved VH a lot. But when I hit 17 and had Van Halens 5150, Scorpions Savage Amusement and Metallica Master of Puppets AT THE SAME TIME it was just insane. Dave did a great job and stands alone as a pioneer showman, but, when they got Sammy he helped elevate them from hoakey Ice Cream man bs to the next level of songwriting.....and the awards and sales prove it.
