Hi Leslie, I paint while flying alot. Your roll kit will be perfect. I always ask for a glass of water after the plane is at altitude. I also take a sick bag from the seat pocket in front of me. They fold flat and water proof! If I don't need it for wet sheets of kitchen roll, then I save it for another trip. I have small sketch books too and I do use water color paper instead of drawing paper. I loved your video on sketch book making, I found my very 1st one that I made for school, dated 1965! That was a long time ago in another universe lol..enjoy your trip, Moms' are very special.

Those are great ideas, thanks! I did a bit of swatching on the plane. I usually just want to rest, but 8 hours is a long time! I use watercolour paper too, except sometimes for swatching when I’m only looking at the colour and not washes, etc. 😊

I really enjoyed this, and it’s nice to see how an experienced artist and traveller picks their supplies. I’m still finding out what stuff I like and trying a lot of new things (too much perhaps?). It’s always such an individual process and a lot depends on which media you use most. You’ll learn over time what you best like. I often change mine up, but for this trip I had very specific art goals in mind and packed accordingly. 😊

I love how much you fit into your Sendak. Your eraser tin is so cute! I just bought some mini compasses/dividers at the Flea Market because they are tiny and cute but had no thoughts on how to use them. Was so surprised to see it one in your travel supplies! Smaller Compasses, are also great to transfer accurate measurings from other pictures to your paper (like a proportion divider).Very usefull for either drawing or painting! Your Set up is similar to mine!

I love the Sendak. So expensive though. I am going to make my own version but have sooo many changes in what I carry its hard to pin down the " best" options. So many art supplies. Wonderful life. Enjoy your visit with your momma. LOVE the tiny asprin tin.

Here in Australia, the Uni Pin Sepia fine liners are available in 0.1, 0.5 & brush tip….love the 0.5 ❤️

Love this! It is clear how much thoughy and experience you out behind your selection. It is nice to see you found your perfect bag. I am using an IKEA Forfina toiletries bag with some travel plastic containers. It is lightweight, around A5, has many pockets and is made of synthetic canvas. It had a hook to hang too! So far, it works for me...but I am always interested to see what other traveler painters have in their bags. Have a great trip!

Since you like drawing old houses, my favorite medium for those, is Dark Sepia pencils from Kohinoor!! Actually I use their 5.6mm leads loaded in their 5340 or 5347 lead holders for extra control, but it's the same material that their wooden pencil versions! Old houses with a bit of landscape around them, is my favorite theme to draw!! Keep it up and happy travels!!

It's their Chalk pencils, Kohinoor Red Chalk is what made me fall in love with these pencils. Kohinoor Red Calk, is considered THE best Sanguine out there and I vote for that too! @@LeslieStroz

I've never had luck with those Molotow masking pens. 😢 I've bought a few, but theres always a wad of gummed up masking fluid right underneath the nib that makes it unusable. I love their paint pens though.

@LeslieStroz UniPin fineliners in the grey and sepia only appear to come in brush, 0.5 and 0.1 tips. Rather than a stationery or art store, I purchased mine from an online architectural drawing supply company. I could buy pens individually or in sets.

I have one question though how do you turn all your youtube videos into shorts? I struggle so hard with this. Doesn't it give you trouble with sizing if the original recording was horizontal? For me, it just makes everything too close up because i have to zoom in on only one part. Your quin red and perm rose are in the wrong place on the cass mini palette and on the swatch. Perm rose is the pinker looking pigment and colour and quin red is always a warmer leaning but very transparent colour like what you’ve written perm rose beneath. I have the same palette.
