My Name is Kenny Hoskinds I am orriginally fron Cin Ohio, I grew up at La Sourdsville, I have personaly ridden that roller coaster 100 times! The lake is of my fondest memories as a child. It was a special place for me. I am going on a cross country trip with my family and wanted to take them there! Very sad my kids won't get to experience it!

This video breaks my heart. I grew up about 2 hours away from there in KY in a little town of about 300 people. Our neighbor down the hill worked at GM, and GM would have it's employee appreciation or union picnic day at Americana. Their youngest daughter, who was about my age, would invite me to go. Such sweet memories. I had no idea until tonight what happened.

Looked forward every summer to our yearly family visit to Lesourdsville as a child. I will never forget it. So Sad to see it gone.

Very good video, but so sad to see the park so bare. Worked in the arcade as a teenager, my First job at 15. I'm now 60. So many good memories. Went swimming there every summer since I was 10 and that's when it was the lake, beach and diving deck in middle of lake.

I couldnt agree more. This Place was a major part of my childhood and to see it in the condition that it is in now almost brings tears to my eyes. Well, if we can say anything good about the high gas prices, hopefully it will Bankrupt Jerry Couch because he can't sell any of his precious, Gas Guzzling, RV's. Rest In Piece Americana.

I spent many a day and night at that amusement park over the years when I was young. It was a great summer amusement park, not expensive very fun place to go. Long gone now, Middletown can't even get enough funds to make a park out of it so it still sits after all these years.

What a great video! This was very well done and I especially enjoyed the clips of the park when it was running with the video of what it looks like now! Thanks for posting!

I read an article some time last year that the Screechin Eagle was starting to rot and they were worried some trespassers would get injured on it; so I believe they started demolition on it. The metal coaster at the beginning is called The Sepent, it was dismantled (probably 4 or 5 years ago now) and sold to another small park. Apparently the "logs" are still in the loading area of the log flume ride.

That video almost as weird as it may sound, it almost makes me cry because I have a couple good memories there and the fact that unless someone is loaded in money to make major repairs the park will never come back again.

I was wondering what happened to Americana because its been years since i went there, i am almost 22, and i think the last time i went there was when i was 10. golly they need to find someone who is ACTUALLY going to work with it and REOPEN and fix all of the damages!! Bring Back Americana!!!

I know its 9 years too late for this, but the Screeching Eagle Wooden Coaster blueprints could be found to rebuild a wooden replica at like Ceder Point, it wouldnt be a total loss if people found the Screeching Eagles blueprints and rebuilt the wooden coaster as generations of people has remembered enjoy riding a vintage, *RICKETY, RATTLE-YOUR-BONES-OUT,CANT SEE STRAIGHT DOUBLE VISION ;) LooooL!* wooden classic coaster that the modern metal rollercoasters just dont have by design. Theres a reason why vintage OLDSCHOOL BACK-IN-THE-DAYS HAD MORE CHARM, stuff back then was engineered to if it broke, somebody could fix it with a coathanger and duct tape or Super-Glue and basic knowledge how to use a solder pen ! O_o

That park was a big deal in my life. Kills me to see it abandoned and a mess. Many wonderful memories. I wish I never even watched this. Someone could have saved it.

Greed is the reason. When the greedy have to accept less profits, they pull the plug. The many suffer for the pleasure of the few.

No, the management company that managed the finances went bankrupt in August, which is why it closed early that year too. In fact it left employees unpaid, since the finance company had no money. There is ALWAYS a reason...
