Don’t like the big gap between the topper and cab roof. Looks like it would cause a lot of drag at highway speeds. TFL, have you done a MPG/highway test? I’m curious about how much wind noise is generated and how much the MPG is effected. Thanks.
@laithalmas84133 ай бұрын
hard to avoid the gap when auto manufacturers put the shark fin antenna on the roof. I have one on my tacoma, lost about 1 mpg on the highway and have a minimal wind noise increase

There needs to be a gap there for any flexing the body/ bed does
@WesSiler-t7e3 ай бұрын
There's a ton of flex between bed and cab on pickup trucks. Put "tundra twerk" in the search bar. With a camper mounted to the bed, there has to be some clearance to allow for that movement. Fuel economy is reduced, on average, 1 MPG.

Hi Andre, thanks for the great review. I know you mentioned that the GFC weight actually leveled the truck when it was installed. Did you by chance take an actual measurement to determine exactly how much sag was introduced? I am looking at the GFC on this truck or maybe a slightly heavier alternative and it would be nice to know if a little bit heavier camper (and about 2-300 lbs of gear) are doable. I haven't found an outfitter that offers any way to level the rear should the sag become too substantial. The payload of 1384 lbs would say this shouldn't be an issue, but it would be nice to not have extensive sag. Thanks in advance Andre~

Well another great video guys. I somewhat like the roof top tent but pretty pricy for the average dude. Being 51 and having several campers, this could work on my ZR2, but I would honestly say a small tag behind works better for us since we live in Florida. I think these fit a niche area in camping right now, but I wonder how long they will stick around… anyways keep up the solid work, I envy the Colorado landscape but should be out your way sometime next summer. We are touring the West some and taking in some state and national parks. It would be really cool to run into you guys someday. Thanks for producing some good videos especially the mountain trail segments that Roman did.

Appreciate the lightness and constant improvement of the GFC, but the bed layout is a no-go. Put that thing on struts so no origami is needed to get out when sleeping 2 people up there. Its really a 1 person design as-is.

I can't imagine spending $4000 to put a tent on top of a truck (their website...for just the tent, not that setup). Guess it's cool if you are off roading all the time and take care to air out the tent, but if you camp a few times a year don't talk yourself into a roof top tent... A $40 tent does the same thing, as long as you don't have to be off the ground for safety.

The "toppers" that used to be called "canopies" that are not being utilized as "campers" are "kinda" expensive. That seal of the "camper" when it "kinda" sealed up to the tailgate "kinda" almost got ripped off when opening it. lol What this really should be called is a cargo box tent. Which has been on the channel before. But frankly, these "campers" have been done to death for the sake of getting sponsors. I wonder if it would "kinda" work on a boat? 🤔 Boats that ordinarily were not over night/sleeping cabins, this "kinda" might be interesting to take to that market. Rooftop tents might be all the rage, but they certainly are not practical for everyday use vehicles. "Canopies" were a pain to install and take off on a regular bases for me. I loved my "canopy" for my Nissan. It was custom made, including the paint to match my truck. And I used it for everything from carrying cargo right up to the roof, too sleeping in. But when it came time to be a commuter and or OR adventurer, it was removed. And let me tell you, those things are not lightweight. It was "kinda" difficult to handle by oneself. Then you need a dedicated safe place to store it. In a manner that will not "kinda" ruin the seals for when you return it to the truck bed. The real truck bed "campers" that slide in and out with the self weight supporting legs are a better deal. IMO. Stand alone when not needed on the truck. Easier to instal and remove. And they make them now where they are lower center of gravity with pop up tops. ("kinda" like a roof top tent)
@is65663 ай бұрын
Kinda hard to read. Using that many kinda is kinda forced. 😃
