Idaho is so under rated, yet one of the most diversely beautiful places I have been and a nature photographers paradise. Thousand Springs I was not ready for the first time I stopped by there. I thought it was going to be a quick drive through but ended up spending most of a day there. Craters of the Moon was on my want list but I always bypassed it on my way to Yellowstone. I'm so glad I finally made it a destination and spent the better part of three days there taking it all in and photographing the rugged beauty there. The sun bleached dead trees really added to the otherworldly feeling. I still need to make it to City of Rocks and that area.

FABULOUS video! Ya'll have convinced us to go to Idaho. Amazing! You do my heart good with your joyful spirits and your video talent. I'm old enough to be your mom and I'm thrilled to see how your kids are being raised and knowing the faith and values being instilled in them. Marissa, you're always lovely but your eyes looked luminous in this video and you're getting skinnier, girl! Of course, I'm always jealous of Nathan's eyelashes! You all look so healthy. This lifestyle is good for you! I always enjoy your videos and your commentary. Ya'll are fun! And happy birthday, Nathan!

Nathan I'm not sure that Marissa isn't from another world because she is out of this world beautiful. But seriously, I must thank my parents for going to a different place every year on vacation. I've continued the tradition. I've been to every state in the union except for Alaska, California and Nevada, and I'm planning on getting to them in the next few years. Keep the good stuff coming guys and give the kids a hug from me.

Hi Nathan and Marissa. My husband and I just watched your trip to Idaho on KZbin because we are from Idaho and wanted to see the places you visited. I've lived here all my life, in Pocatello and I love it! I really wish that people knew how beautiful Idaho really is instead of thinking all there is, are potatoes. We can travel 20 minutes and be at a campground, or 40 minutes and be skiing, or a half hour and be water skiing, or 10 minutes and be rock climbing. Hiking is really close as well. I loved hiking up to balanced rock!! I didn't know about it until 4 or 5 years ago when my friend and I decided to go climb it. We had so much fun! It was soooo good to watch the places you and your family visited here in Idaho. Im sure its to late to suggest another place to see but if you're ever here again you need to go to the Minetonka Ice Caves, Bloomington Lake and Bear Lake if you didn't while you were here. They're all about in the same vicinity and they are soooo amazing!!! Your kids are cute! Brenda🙂

There weren’t very many people there, and the feeling you got with the smell of smoke & haze, made for a pretty cool experience!

Thanks to you and some other RV full timers I have been watching for about 3 yrs, I have eaten my words. With this last video it reminds me how wrong I was and now Idaho is at the top of the list of places to see out west. Thank you for taking us on your journey around the US to show us all the wonderful places our country has to offer. Love watching your channel and family. Nathan, I have been in a lot of states, as we moved from time to time when my dad was in the Air Force. I went to College at Utah State University in Logan, Utah, and joined the Campus Christian Fellowship, we took many trips, one of them was to Craters of the Moon. That was awesome. We also went to Jackson Hole, rode the river raft on the Snake River, Timpanogas Cave, Provo Utah, Canyanlands, Newspaper Rock, other parts of Idaho north of Bear Lake.

Craters of the Moon is one of my favorite National Monuments. If you get to Flagstaff, Arizona, I recommend Walnut Canyon National Monument to see the Cliff Dwellings built between 1123-1250. Wukoki is also nearby with more ruins of ancient peoples. And there are more of those lava fields like you are seeing in Idaho.

If you ever find yourself traveling thru north-central Illinois, take the time to visit The Allerton Estate. It's not really "otherworldly", but is a bit of a step back in time. After having been abandoned for quite some time, it's now under either state or private ownership (I forget which), open to the public on a limited basis. You'd have to do a search to find info on it, which I have done a number of times, but always late at night after a couple of adult beverages, so my memory of my search results is a bit foggy, apologies. I lived in the area briefly in 1973, when it was still abandoned, and my boyfriend (an Illinois native) took me there one afternoon. The memories of that day are with me still, over 50 years later. Highly recommend.

Not far from the Craters of the moon is a museum of the Japanese internment camp. There is a nice visitor center and you can walk around and learn about the thousands of people that lived there during WWIl because we were so afraid. They delete with such unfairness with so much grace. Many of their children were even drafted. It is inspiring. It a great historical stop.
