So if its sin, i just subtract 90 degrees and thats it? And my phasor is also the amplitude like cos?

When do I use Vm/√2
@kokomelon3807 Жыл бұрын
I had saw one use it to convert it to its phasor form.

i think your graph is out of phase by 90 degrees sine should be 0 degrees and cosine be 90 because as it is you are saying at t=0 cosine is 0 and sine is 1

I think the sinusoid has to be expressed as cosine soas to be consistent with Euler formula as it relates to complex plane. This practical application of phasors was popularized by Karl Steinmetz This duality of nature is present in physics as electricity and magnetism and applied in electric circuits for sure. The capacitor stores energy in the form of an electric field (involves static electric charge) and inductor stores energy in the form of a magnetic field (involves moving electric charge as current). Resistor just dissipates electrical power to thermal power as heat.

Would the phaser voltage be 120.2? Vrms = Vm/sqrt(2) = 170/sqrt(2) = 120.2

Phasor is complex representation of a function. Thus, one uses Amplitude and Angle. While RMS values are used for computing steady state values.

Can we have two phaser representation for same voltage
@brenomacedo47742 жыл бұрын
Consider the phasor 120V with 90º, its the same as 120V with - 270º You can also represent it as e^( j * pi/2) just remember that pi/2 = 90º U can also represent it as : 120V * (cos(90º) + J sin(90º) )

@ajbrewer17772 жыл бұрын
Reasonable logic but nope. You subtract 90 from whatever your phase angle is. The reason being cosine is lagging sine by pi/2 (90*). If you subtracted from 90*, you would not be making that full pi/2 phase shift into the cosine domain. You also subtracted a phase angle from 90* for no reason. I hope that helps. Im a student, not a professor, so make sure that the random guy on the internet (me) isnt full of shit.

To convert a sine function to cosine just subtract 90 degrees.
