This is the fourteenth session of an eighteen-lesson course for absolute beginners wishing to learn Arabic. In this lesson, you will build upon your knowledge and understanding of the sun and moon letters, working from pages 68 to 69 of the book, with additional reading practice. You will also learn how to improve your fluency when reading sentences containing sun and moon letter words defined by ‘al’.
The course as a whole is based on the book 'Arabic from the Beginning: Part One' by Dr. Imran Hamza Alawiye, which is available from the publisher's website: www.gatewaytoarabic.com. The course teaches everything you need to know to read and write the Arabic script, as well as useful Arabic phrases.

(I know this is two-years old. But I am commenting for anyone else who reads your comment). He does pronounce the "ti" in "wal-Haafaati" (Last sentence) but previous two he does not. I believe he is on auto-pilot. Later, in Gateway to Arabic series, he will go over why we won't say it. But, for now (and with his currently videos) he is teaching us the grammar rules and that it is important to understand them before we make them silent.

I have a question related to the letter ى. When should I use it? And what’s the difference between Alif and ى as they both have the same sound. Same thing with Ta ت and Ta marbota ة as I find the both of them to have the same sound but used in different situations/styles
@ImranAlawiye-gatewaytoarabic
@ImranAlawiye-gatewaytoarabic Жыл бұрын
The rules governing alif are many and complex and are not within the scope of this lesson. For now, simply accept that alif maqsura is a form of alif that can only appear at the end of a word, never at the beginning or in the middle (although the regular alif can also appear at the end of a word sometimes). Similarly, the letter ة (taa marbuta, or 'tied taa') is a form of taa that can only appear at the end of a noun or adjective. Its presence usually indicates that the word is feminine. It cannot appear at the end of a verb. Just for the record, masculine words that end in a regular taa such as بَيْت (a house) also exist.

Hello Dr. Imran, thank you for teaching us this lesson and I found that memorizing sun and moon letter quite easy. But I just have a question, at the end of the sentences, I can see that the letters have a Kasra but it is not pronounced. Why is this? Thank you.
@ImranAlawiye-gatewaytoarabic
@ImranAlawiye-gatewaytoarabic 9 ай бұрын
When reading Arabic aloud, it is conventional not to read the final vowel of a phrase when there is a pause after it, or the final vowel in a sentence before a full stop (period). That is why I didn't read those kasras although, in Arabic grammar, they are required. However, it is not wrong to pronounce them.
