I’ve watched all your videos from lesson one and I can’t tell you how helpful it has been. I love your repetition of the point you are making to hammer it home! so many videos skip along so quickly and it’s easy to miss points being made. So valuable going back to basics, even though I’ve been painting for a while, and re-establish what is critical to a successful image. It has brought about improvements in my work and I thank you for doing these wonderful lessons and sharing your knowledge.

So glad to see another video from you! I've learned so much from you and am so interested in light and shadow and portraits. This is just what I've been practicing...how to draw and then paint the shadow shapes which is sort of like negative painting. It's helping me see better. I still have difficulty seeing values in color. Black and white and shades of grey are much easier. You are an excellent instructor, are inspirational and some day I hope to be in one of your classes. Please add more videos lessons on KZbin! Thank you Stan!

Great lesson! I never wanted to try painting faces before, as I’m just learning to paint. But after watching this video, I really want to try. Your lessons are the best I’ve found on YT! Thanks, Stan!

This is so helpful, thank you for being such a brilliant teacher. I've never tried a portrait, apart from some very 2 dimensional sketches that usually look quite ghostly! Having watched this video, I can see how your method will work with a bit of practice. I've taken various photos of people and have often thought about painting the faces, but I've not known where to start until now. First, I'll need to start with simple black and white images and practise the basics many times. Slowly, slowly, bit by bit...

Always great stuff. I have recommended your videos to so many of my friends of different skill levels. The concept of value is perhaps the hardest in painting. Quick question, if I may. In one of your earlier videos you indicated that you would share how to turn a photo into one of the limited value gray scale images that use so often. Did you do that and I missed it? Of is it something we still have to look forward to? Thanks for your generosity in sharing your knowledge. Dennis

Never sure if you are ment to build from light to darks...or dark to lights adding more and more complexity layer upon layer......?
@Stanleylestermiller4 жыл бұрын
Whatever works. I do all of that, sometimes, light to dark, sometimes dark to light, sometimes many layers, sometimes just one layer. They all work.
