thanks for the great tutorial! very informative and well made. One small thing, int in these menus refer to an integer (whole number) value, not initiate. its usually how whole number values are assigned in programming

Around 4:14, where you have to drag and drop the animation into the inspector.....2019, its not there. I've run into a couple ppl now that say they're having the same issue but I am wondering if it's done differently now? idk. I added music to my emotes animation. Is it normal that when i play 1st the custom emote that i put that has music to it. When i toggle a default emote it also play the song? Edit: all dances are working fine and all of them have music to it. The only problem is when i play the default emotes it also plays the music. 😅

Could you do a tutorial on adding music to emotes? I was having previous issues with animations in general from following tutorials that included music and I don't know what your tutorials have had me do differently, but they've corrected all problems I've had. I don't wanna break my avatar by trying to combine tutorials 😂

where are you getting the emotes and dances from that they're just readily available? Are they a part of the model already or are they on Mixamo? And what if the models don't work with the animations for custom models you've made instead of models downloaded?

I believe they are from VRCMods, as long as your armature is rigged properly they should all work

I feel like if you put in a submenu in a submenu does that mean you can have as many emotes/animations as you want before you hit some file size issue?

in theory yes but you'll hit a parameter and file size limit way before that

I was trying to fix one of my 3.0 avatars that I purchased a couple of days ago. Everything was working properly, but there was no prone idle position. So I followed along with this and it was helpful where I did the step by step process. But when I upload the avatar again, the facial expressions were now broken. Anyone know how to fix this?

Make sure you put the expression animations on the Hands controller and put that in the FX slot of your Avatar Descriptor, check that all the VRC. blendshapes are removed from your animations

I was testing with the custom prone/crouching animations and my avatar looked fine on the preview, but in vrchat he would either sink into the ground or float above the ground if I changed the head position even slightly, which is very annoying. How do I fix this?

This is a known bug in Vrchat having to do with IK, there's a plugin / fix you can download here: booth.pm/ja/items/2854530 haven't used it myself so i can't help with setting it up

I have a question regarding adding more Emotes. You've said VRC cant handle if you add a condition where the Emote equals 9, which is why you changed it to 17 instead. (Yet I dont know why, cause we changed the condition in the transition [WaitForAction -> Prepare Standing] to not ignore values greater than 9) So my question is, why exactly 17? Also, what exactly is the "naming convention" for the values? Is it like : 1-8 11-18 21-28 ... ? Thank you for your Videos, they've been helpful

the animations between 8 and 17 are reserved for sitting, prone, running etc.

what if you dont want the animation to toggle? Do you set it as a toggle button in the menu? What parameters do you need? what exit time? My avatar breaks because its not meant to loop, but if i set it as toggle it breaks the avatar and doesnt disabl

I figured it out: just set it to not loop at the animation, and in the menu, set it as a button instead of a toggle. you wont have to hold the animation, but itll toggle off the animation once you hit it the first time instead of looping.

I have problem with my music overlapping other animationd after i have played one with music on it. I did the thing you said about making it toggleable by checking the loop but not sure if it will fix it. I might try to upload it and see but yeah its very confusing to me.

you might have SDK2 instead of 3, you can delete the VRCSDK folder, download SDK3 from the VRC website and import it

So I've been having trouble with the idle for crouching and prone. I put them in the right spot and the pose looks perfectly fine on its own in Unity but when I go into VRchat to test it the poses are deformed and not as they should be. The idle animation for prone is somewhat in the ground and messes up the pose. You can still get the idea of what the pose is supposed to be but it doesn't look as its supposed to. There's some distortion with the crouching idle. Normally the pose is of the avatar sitting with one knee up to rest their arm on and the other leg folded, I think you can get what kind of pose it is. Though in VRchat the feet are were they should be more or less but the avatar isn't sitting flat on the ground and somewhat above it and the arms are hovering higher too rather then resting naturally. I've tried countless things to fix these poses with no luck.

Your root positions might be messed up, try using the default animations and see if you still sink in the floor in game

@@Aggrotard Well my default prone animation when I'm moving does have me somewhat in the floor. Its not as bad with Crouch movement but still somewhat noticeable.

Also check your toe bones, they should be aligned with the sole of the foot, the toe bones determine where the floor goes

@@Aggrotard My toe bones are aligned with the sole of the foot. I went through all the default proxy animations as well as my sitting animations and made sure all the Y root positions are the exact same and they are.

Make sure all the values XYZ are 0, also check your duplicate model aswell if you animated anything on that one, some people claim they have the same issues with the correct values so it might be a VRC issue aswell

you need to check the root position of your avatar in the animation. The Muscle Animator plugin for Unity is recommended for this

Make sure your transitions for the On and Off animations bare set up correctly, the reason you lose hand tracking is when you reset the avatar during an animation
