Don't know if you are still around but I like your philosophy of silent space and you are easy to understand, with a pleasant demeanor, which makes for a great instructor. Breaking down the songs this way is how many of us would rather learn in the beginning. I would like future videos for timeless standards like "Soldiers Joy", "Old Joe Clark", Angeline the Baker" and "Shady Grove" broken down with your suggested variations and sense of style and rhythm. Thanks again.

I like the "leaving space in a tune" approach. Gonna have fun trying the brush-hammer-on. Thanks!

awesome to have a lesson video aimed at intermediate players (most seem to be beginner on here). It would be awesome if you did one on up the neck playing, like licks or translating songs

The reason you like to "leave a little space" is because you understand the beauty in what you're doing.

I have a question. Why do dropthumb players insist on playing the worst banjos in the world? Calf hides, thin rims, no tone rings, necks with cheap wire frets, no stability, it's pitiful. Do you just want them to look old? Is sound of no concern at all? I know at least a few of you have enough money to buy a real banjo! Has no one told you that Gibson, Ode, Vega, Fender and others make "tube and plate" banjos so that you can remove the resonator easily and convert them back and forth from open backs to resonators and still have top end instruments? I don't get it, I have an almost identical banjo to the one being played hanging on my wall. It is an old Vega that belonged to my great grandfather. He paid $6.25 for it way back then. Yeah, it still plays but is better as a wall hanging. It sounds nothing like my 1966 Ode prototype "Masterpiece". I have a friend that has a gold plated Gibson RB800 tube and plate. A little pricy at $3500 but it will crack glass, with or without the resonator! I know there is RB3s, RB4s, RB75s, RB250s out there because they are everywhere at the bluegrass festivals, yet I never see them converted to open backs (which was designed into them) and played by the clawhammer folks. Just wondering?

+HM Dickson We don't want banjos that break glass. Old time players want a mellow plunkier sound. You don't need to call her banjo "pitiful" because it doesn't conform to your aesthetic.

I agree totally and besides who wants to take a 3500.00 dollar banjo out by the pond to play, I'm sure that's not the only banjo she has.

This sound is terrific. This is how a banjo sound sound and NOT that metallic boring sound that a lot - not Bela - of bluegrass players employ.
