Thanks sooo much, for taking the time to slowly explain how to fingerpick/perform this Prine maudlin-tearjerker-classic! May the positive energy return to you!

Yeah, that back and forth transition between pinching and finger picking is the hard part and what made Prine and Goodman so good together. Great tutorial!

awesome lessons, thanks Scott...keep them coming! Yours are one of the only lessons I'have found that actually teach in a teachable manner, than simply showcasing your skills.

This was really helpful. I have been trying to get that opening down for a while. Doing all kinds of variations hoping to find how John Prine did it. You made it simple and straightforward. Thank you. I really appreciate your help.

Great lesson thank you. I love how u and John Prine mod the D chord. That is so cool. I will use that in other songs now. I'm an old newbie. But as they say you're never to old to start learning. I primarily play slide on a cigar box guitar, a 4 stringer in open G. But this stuff I'm playing on standard 6 string acoustic. Fortunately they are all easy chords. Thanks again you truly made my night and most likely tomorrow.

This is really great Scott! I'm working hard at your finger picking lessons and also trying to learn Souvenirs with you. You say in this lesson that you can't really tell us the finger picking pattern you're using here. Can we assume its the same pattern as your lessons? (2,3 and 4) It may sound like a dumb question but I have way more enthusiasm than talent and it would be really helpful to confirm this.

Scott, nice job but I think while your picking the A7 try the B string on the 5th fret instead of the E string on the 4th fret. I think it sounds more proper??

what strings do u keep picking when you go into G and the little walk the rest seems perfect but I need that part.

Is this how John played it or this a mix of him and Steve Goodman?

The first part of the instruction (finishing with the D chord) was great. It was slow and detailed. However, that's where your teaching broke down. To be consistent the lesson would be more complete if you would have continued the same amount of detail with the G and A7 chords. It wasn't necessary to see what your right hand was doing while explaining the D chord, but because of your lack of verbal detail on the G and A7 it would have been more helpful to see what the right hand was doing. Thx
@natekreis278212 жыл бұрын
You did a really good job explaining the finger picking with the D chord but as soon as you moved on it was like you were just playing leisurely and not really teaching. If you could take some extra time and explain the rest of the intro, that would be really helpful
@Northyorkspaul4 жыл бұрын
I can never follow these without tabs....
@rwrolle5 жыл бұрын
do you have some tabs ?
@battmuha912 жыл бұрын
Its kind of weird how thorough you are at the beginning and then just let it fly after the d chord.. guess i'm just not good enough to figure it out.
@hunterhall4534 жыл бұрын
Good lesson up until you switch to the g chord and then you don’t explain the rest
@scottlarsen18554 жыл бұрын

@danhutchinson86495 жыл бұрын
Way to take your time teaching the D chord and then blow right by the G chord and on to the A.....You're not really interested in teaching are you......and no that wasn't a question...
