3/28/2023: ---just finished watching your latest video. Watched as you signed off for the last time, hung up your lab coat, and the light to the studio turned off. ---the reason I'm commenting on THIS VIDEO is because this was the very first video that I found and watched of your channel. Then I subbed, went back and watched most of the videos that I missed out on. Summer 2018 to almost summer 2023. Enjoyed your channel as I listened to the many art subjects, motivational vids, inspirational vids, cons, ...felt like me following one of the many awesome TV shows back in the day before social media where you had to wait every week to see the next episode 😂.... ---can't wait to see what you got cooking next when you come back. 🤜🔥🤛

Hey found this video when I was searching for art exhibition tips. I see it’s an older video, but that’s okay! I’m a paper quilling artist, and just got in to my first exhibition. It’s with two other artists, but that’s ideal for me since I’m not sure how many pieces I will bring. I’ve only been doing this art form ‘professionally’ for a few years, and each piece takes a long time, so I only really have like 20 small (most 11”X14”) pieces I could show that I’m most proud of that haven’t sold. It’s taken me years to get to this point, and to have enough art to show. I am very excited, thanks for the tips. It will be nice to hear and see people’s reactions. So far I’ve done a lot of social media for my art. I have a demonstration event in April too.

great opportunity, thanks for sharing with us! I know it's not all about the money, but I'm curious how the sales were compared to a similar day at a comic con?
@ScottSerkland6 жыл бұрын
For me it was comparable to a good day at a con. If I were selling more high priced originals It’s possible I could have made more. Not sure. But no fee other than the gallery commission which was 20% so better than a con in that respect.

Thanks Dede. It's a bit different from when I do a comic convention, but I'm glad I got the opportunity.

Are the pieces on the wall just for show or where they for sale mate ? do you sell prints in a plastic sleeve or in frames aswell ? many thanks
@milkit56994 жыл бұрын
Also did you have multiple sizes of prints for multiple prices
@ScottSerkland4 жыл бұрын
So I usually don't sell multiple sizes, because people usually just pick the smallest sizes. but for this show I sold two sizes 12" x 18" and 20" x 30" because they had the same mark up. Most people bought the smaller size. I sold the prints in a plastic sleeve and also offered the framed artwork for anyone who wanted to pick it up after the show.

What were there requiremets on hanging your art? I mean, I can't imagine you nailed everything up. Also, Was everything on the walls originals, or were they prints? Finally, if someone wanted to buy something off the wall, did they pay you immediately and then come back to get it? I love the idea of setting up a pop-up gallery, but have NO IDEA! Haha!
@ScottSerkland6 жыл бұрын
I’ve only done the one show and I imagine a lot of this depends on the gallery, but I can answers based on my experience. I was required to make sure my frames had a horizontal wire that ran across the top of my frames. The gallery did not have nails but wire lines that ran down from the top of the wall. The wire have a hook that moved up and down the length of the wire for positioning. It was relatively easy to hang my frames. All my work were prints. If someone purchased one I would give them a separate print. If they wanted it famed they would have to come back at the end of the show or a later date to claim it.

That looks very nice. Exposure is a good thing. I should try to do something like this sometime. I've never done an art show or a comic con. I have lots of material from my universe and always working on something new. Hey if you have some time would love if you checked out some of my art. I post on ArtStation under the name Thagirion. I would post a link but I think youtube would mark my comment as spam. I'm kind of new there so only some of my stuff is up but I'm slowly getting my drawings up.

Thanks! I check it out. Keep up the comic work! I love seeing what other artist are doing in comics.

Thanks for looking. I don't know if I'll ever finish that comic. I would like to. I'm terrible about starting comics and never finishing them. I have another that currently has my attention. I seem better off at drawing scenes in one big frame.
