So true! Somehow trying to be perfect and get it right the first time takes the life right out of it.

It's the blank page fear syndrome I think. By just starting somewhere and telling yourself it's just warm up, you subvert that fear. Took me ages to realize!

The goal really is to find a way to draw so that you don't care too much. I've developed this sort of "doodling" approach to my lines where I just empty my head and let the lines go wherever they want, one after the other. If I'm going over a sketch with inks, I try to avoid straight up tracing over the same lines and let the ink lines take a life of their own. I'll even make little scribbles and draw out of the line here and there just to completely erase the idea of a line being in the "wrong place."

I think a better adjective or way of explaining in depth "not caring" is to simply describe it in terms of "confidence in your work" to just lay things down and make informed decisions but not to be tedious. It's kind of like how being "deliberate" can be thought of is as "being slow". Just allowing yourself to put things on the paper, knowing that later you can make revisions based on process.

Or you can think of it as being care-free. Like how a child will play freely and be expressive without being self-conscious about what he/she is doing, saying or how others will think about him/her.

These are very good lessons to learn if you actually want to finish a comic... I also have a research problem I need to figure out... Love the background on the back of the page idea!

I love your idea of drawing a rough thumbnail on the scrip, that's always been my greatest trouble is with scripts, I never really write them because I have trouble translating the text format to visual, since I'm more novel trained. And since I do the roughs as well as the story, my co-artist is the one who needs little extra except changes when I don't approve something and have to redo it. BTW, she's also in Copenhagen. :)

Sir one QUESTION: before you start actually drawing your pages, do you get any extra time for creating designing characters, modelsheet and necessary things like backgrounds, costume for characters?

Not sure what you mean by "get time". I make time, for sure. It's a balance because you may end up spending weeks in the design phase, preparing for all sort of stuff you don't see much of in the book! But main characters, yes, always. Episode 4 of my course is all about character design and location. Teaser here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y36XoJl6r6p_o6c
