Absolutely love your work! If the internet had been a thing when I started collecting (and it wasn't), it would have saved me about $2000 spent on books! But hey, I love those books as much as the rifles and the gear. You have corrected one glaring mistake about the trigger guards. Thank you for that. You do have one more. The M1 Garand is named "after its MANUFACTURER, John C. Garand", you state. He is the inventor, not the manufacturer. He was a Canadian born, naturalized US citizen that worked for the Springfield Armory in Springfield , MA, on salary. Current branded Springfield M1 Garands available have nothing to do with the original arsenal (the first in the US, signed into operation by George Washington). They picked up the brand by registering it after the Arsenal ceased manufacturing in the late 60's, (yes, you can legally do that after three years of non-use). Keep up the good work, AND REMEMBER...!

I love this series, I’ve done Civil War reenacting my whole life and just started WW2

Another great video. One thing to note, you do start to see some stamped trigger guards being fielded by late 1944. Even then, most would be milled like the video states. As far as slings go, "buy once, cry once." The made in USA At the Front slings and Turner Saddlery slings are the best I've come across.

For Slings you can use Kerr Sling M1907 leather sling or the Canvas web sling for the M1 Garand .

a great investment! remember if you paid too much, in five years you won't have! and remember, in 1936 Germany Great Britain France & Japan adopted a new bolt action rifle... the USA the M1 - interrogations of German & Japanese infantry said they feared the M1's firepower

I was just recommended this channel to get started. Great stuff! For those who end up using an M1 Carbine for their impressions, what is the best way to blank adapt our guns?
@theusgireenactorguide1830 Жыл бұрын
Hey there! We’re hoping to get to that topic very soon. At the moment there’s only two ways to blank adapt an M1 Carbine, to either buy a milsurp blank adapter, or to drill tap your barrel so you can put adapter screws into the barrel. Drill tapping would be the best option for blank adapting because the milsurp adapters look incredibly bulky and aren’t discrete at all. Hope this was helpful!

I hope you make a US PTO guide.

I only have a springfield 1903mk1 and a 1903a3. Is it still acceptable to use one of those?
@CanadaFTW952 жыл бұрын
If you look at the table of operations, each US rifle squad during WW2 had a designated grenadier. Before the development of the grenade launcher for the M1, that soldier was equipped with the M1903 and its grenade launcher so it's okay to use one. You can see pictures of soldiers with M1903s up until like the battle of the bulge. However reproduction rifle grenades and a launch adapter are definitely some extra things you'd have to get to complete your impression.

So with the Garand, would it be considered Farby to carry a rifle with an HR receiver for a WW2 impression?
@theusgireenactorguide18302 жыл бұрын
The HR company was commissioned to produce M1 Rifles after the war. However, their construction is to the same specs as rifles manufactured by say Springfield armory. You can reasonably swap out the rear sight and trigger guard for WWII Spec sets and they would fit in just fine! Rifles are one of the more expensive, committed pieces to get and they aren't getting any cheaper. So as long as it fits the appearance of a WWII Manufactured rifle, your kit is most definitely not farby!

Cool deal. Looks like I will have to swap out some parts, but that’s a lot cheaper than buying a new rifle.

What about using airsoft guns since some states might have strict gun laws? Also will you make a reenactment guide on uniforms of other units such as Rangers, paratroopers and marines in the future?

Hands down best place to get a M1 is CMP. 1/2 the cost of street price. Catch is to get a WW2 era one. Most you see currently are IHC’s. Jump through the hoops, join the GCA and get a CMP M1

What about airsoft? Also what is that song at the end?
@theusgireenactorguide1830 Жыл бұрын
Airsoft or Denix nonfiring replicas are an acceptable stand in for actual M1 rifles, but they’re not perfect. Many of these pieces have parts that do not match up with period WWII parts. If you’re stuck in a state or country where you physically can’t buy a firearm, they’re a perfectly fine substitute. However, if it’s primarily a price problem I would save your money and invest in a genuine Garand as it’s much more worth it in the longrun
@LycanTheWolf Жыл бұрын
@@theusgireenactorguide1830 well it’s not so much the price(although that is a minor factor) as it is the fact of my age. As I’m not old enough to be considered able to handle a gun in reenactments so I wondered if an airsoft M1 rifle would be an excellent alternative that still allows me to have a combat role. And thank you for answering one of my questions.
@theusgireenactorguide1830 Жыл бұрын
@@LycanTheWolf Happy I could help! They do make relatively affordable airsoft guns but I would recommend save your money now so when you’re of age you can start shopping! M1 Garands are getting more expensive as the years progress, so it’s better to save what you can for it. And the song for the outro is In the Army Now by the Jesters!

So imma just say, in ww2 a lot of the US infantry smoked cigarettes so if you are planing to use cigarettes with your character, I would highly recommend herbal smokes, no additives, no nicotine or any other dangerous chemicals DO NOT INHAIL THE SMOKE it is recommended to suck the smoke in like a straw. Edit: this may cause some risks so ask your health provider if you should use herbal smokes during mock combat.
