I’ve burned through a ton of boots throughout the years and is one thing I will always break the bank on if I can. Nothing is worse than having your boots fall apart around your feet while you trudge through the muck, or in my case, storm through a factory

Can agree with that. I work as a mountain guide and basically otherwise mountain man Hurt feet will cripple you. I buy 500+ dollar boots. But they hold up for several years and I can walk 20+ miles (even done 30 before) in a day on rough uneven terrain without hotspots.

The M1943 Buckle Boots would go on to be copied by the French Military for years after. They were called "Rangers" as for tidy.

Just a note, At the Front's and WWII Impressions boots are both made by HH Brown.

One reason for leggings or blousing trousers is it takes care of inseam lengths. Important when you're trying to refit 1000 guys at once

Update: AtTheFront now makes reproduction socks, though it is worth noting that they are exactly the same as modern OD green cushion sole socks, just in a different color

it is interesting on the sock front that after all this time no one makes quality repops. Its very strange.

SM wholesale still sells the best boots. ATF has stopped selling boots althogether. Does anyone know about the boots from Pakistan or India?

@@stretchedout6600 I got my Roughouts from WPG for $75 sure they are made in Dubai and use UK shoe sizes. UK size 14 is US size 15 whilst US size 14 is UK size 13. On the Double Buckle front I did manage to snag a unissued pair of size 15 1/2 D Double Buckles 2 years ago for $65.

Really enjoying this series. I do have one question though, what’s the difference between Army Roughouts and USMC Boondockers?
@Totemparadox
@Totemparadox Жыл бұрын
If you haven't found the answer yet, the Marine and Navy shoes have a slightly more pointy toe. Not at all like a dress shoe but a bit more pointy compared to the almost clownish army boots.
@michaelbenjmitchell1

@@Totemparadox Difference in the Boondocker and the roughout is the rivet. The Boondocker is actually closer to the Double Buckle boots than the Roughout as the Boondocker is more of a Double buckle without the upper leather collar.

Is adding modern insoles considered farb?
@kaibowman4803
@kaibowman4803 6 ай бұрын
Some would, I've done it, though. SMWholesale, though, uses veg tanned leather, which molds to your foot and is far more comfortable than modern insoles.

They've gotten that bad 😞. They began going down hill not long after being sold in the early 90s to HH Brown and production moved to Martinsburg from Stoughton Mass. I've owned numerous pair since 83 when I was in the Army. My original set I got in 83 lasted through three resolings before finally wearing out in some areas. The brown versions were from the original first couple runs by Stoughton in the late 80s, I still have one set of those. If you're trying to find a great set, keep your eyes open in different platforms, the older red label Stoughton versions still pop up and reasonable prices. Cheers

So I own a bunch of original web gear and other assorted crap from my relatives back in the day. Recently decided I to putting together a uniform to go with it. We have several photos of his unit in the 6th armored division and it looks like basically everyone is rocking the double buckle boots. Unfortunately I don’t know the time the photos were taken…
