I have really enjoyed and found Jay's videos unbelievably valuable. His video's gave me the skills and knowledge to engage in local politics. I ran for election myself, have helped others in their campaign and run 'meet the candidate' events. I am currently advocating for changes from outside the debating chamber. It's so lovely to hear some of his own story, his life and values - especially given the value he has freely provided to us.

Jay, you need to do more videos like this. I got more insight into you and your experiences in this 60-minute video than in all your previous ones. You obviously have tons of experience that need to be shared with all of us in KZbin land and every other social media platform. Thank you for your words of wisdom. "In a democracy, the power of words is the most powerful drug humankind is ever known. We can trace every event in world history to somebody's adroit use of words whether it's been for good or evil. That is the common thing. Now here was my realization. Hey Jay, if you're interested in politics that's where the power is. The words. Technology is always going to change. But if you can help people craft their words, the people you help can change the course of history." The way we use words in a newspaper isn't the same way we use words on radio or television. Robert Kennedy proved that on that night in Indiana in 1968. Similarly, the way we used words on the Internet aren't the same on today's social media. We need to adapt the way we use words for each different kind of medium so that our words are effective so as to motivate them with our messaging.

Jay, an understatement! A book I recommend is "Why Irrational Politics Appeals - Understanding the Allure of Trump" by Mari Fitzduff, Editor. Regardless of what we may think about Donald Trump, he had a way with words ... words that galvanized his base and won him the 2016 election. At the same time, Hillary Clinton used words ... but the wrong kind of words ... along with a previous history ... that lost her the election. We're seeing the same kind of thing up here in Canada where conservative politicians are using powerful words to galvanize their base ... and it's working ... but with the lack of response from progressives (up here we call them Liberals and New Democrats). Instead, these latter groups are resorting to words that were applicable in the 2000s but are no long applicable in the 2020s. Words are still powerful ... very powerful as we have seen over the last t years ... but the messaging and the delivery medium are quite different. It's that delivery medium that we haven't yet figured out how to use to our advantage.
