Lessons learned from my first Recovery | A Jeeps Journey

In this video I'm sharing some lessons I learned from my first recovery.
Chris in his Landrover Defender and I recently hit the trail at Honinklip 4x4. It's always fun wheeling with different vehicles to see how they perform and how different they are to my Jeep.

Recoveries are always tricky and there is not one right answer. IMHO you do you what you need to do with what you have availible at that moment. As long as you use your savy and feel safe in the moment, you probably are. Always good to reflect, and see what you could have done beter, for next time. I think you did a good job, no injuries, no damage. Good job on your content, I really enjoy it. Let me know when you come through EC, maybe we can hit a trail or 2 together.

to your question, "what should i have done differently", my answer would be "not to go in there". hahaha. You guys are crazy, but I love watching your videos because I get to learn a lot (and of course these are entertaining as well).

For being out by yourselves, you did what you needed to do. I think if you would have had a weight on the cable (jacket, tool bag, ect) it would have been fine. Also, if this was with the new synthetic cable, they will not cause the damage a steel cable would. But, a weight would be good insurance. Also, I thought all Defenders had lockers, so I learned something new. :)

Hey thanks for the comment Scott! Appreciate the feedback . Yes I guess the weight added to the rope was the main thing I should have done 👍🏽 This was the synthetic line . Ah yes, with the defenders as far as I know they didn’t come with them from factory but people have often installed them afterwards .

Your second try was good! But just a dampening blanket or related would have been fine.
