Lessons Learnt From November 1984 Sikh Genocide: Speech of Bhai Ajmer Singh

Patiala: A seminar dedicated to the memory of those killed during Sikh genocide of November 1984 was organised by students of Punjabi University, Patiala. The topic of the seminar was “on the “Sikh Genocide 1984”.
Senior journalist and author of the book “Gujarat Files” Rana Ayub, Sikh historian Bhai Ajmer Singh, and Editor of Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) Parmjeet Singh were the main speakers during this event.
Sikh Historian Bhai Ajmer Singh shared his views on topic “Lessons learnt from November 1984”. He said that the denial of genocide goes hand in glove with the genocide massacres as every attempt is made to hide the true identity of the culprit section. Vague and very generalised terms - such as goons, anti-social elements, killer mobs are invoked to conceal the real identity of the perpetrators and Sikh Genocide of November 1984 is a classical example of this above fact.
He further stated that genocidal episodes have their roots in genocidal impulse that prevails in any society and takes aggressive form in certain conditions. He said that in order to understand any genocidal atrocity, it is important to identify the prevailing genocidal impulse.
History stands witness to the fact that the Hindu society does posses such a genocidal impulse which turns active when they capture political power. He invoked many references to establish that the November 1984 Sikh Genocide was direct outcome of genocidal impulse which had gripped the Hindu psyche at that time. It is important for the Sikhs and other minorities inhabiting this peninsula to understand this to ensure their existence.

Sikhs of my neighborhood, stayed in our home (with my grand father in Rajasthan) during 1984, and we are Hindu. At the time of Guru Govind Singh ji, my ancestors used to send First and Eighth son to Guru Seva (Full time KeshDhari Sikh), and later Guru would return their First and Eighth sons back to our family (as Hindu). Please know that Hindu and Sikh blood is same blood. And Yes politics is bad, injustice is bad, so is bad your effort of Dividing Hindu and Sikhs.

No I strongly disagree. I am from a higher class. I have Sikh friends, competitors (friendly rivals), family friends since generations, and yes some that I do not like. But I can not say if all Sikhs are good or all are bad. Same is true with Hindus of upper or lower castes. We have our share of bad things same way you have. So please fix your side and help us improve our side. We are more so we have made more mistakes. I do not want to argue so please forgive yourself and us. BTW, I accidentally reached to this video while researching something else, but I could not stop myself from telling the truth, so forgive me for that too. Enjoy and help others enjoy GuruPurav.

Voting in any Indian state or Centre has never been based on what party believes or what people believe, else how come congress still has MLAs in Punjab? It does not mean if Akali or BJP or any other party is better or different. All are same. Politics is business of easily making money. BTW, Sikhs are not limited to Punjab only. They are everywhere in India and world and get good respect. There are many people like us who stand with good Sikhs.
