I wish it was that rosey but unfortunately the wealth in the private sector segments along the line of race with indigenous Zambians at the bottom. And this has its ramifications in terms of housing, education, and business opportunities. The average Zambian is locked out of business opportunities with govt, it's mainly the preserve of Indians, Lebanese, and the Chinese. It begs belief as to why people's from a far a field as India, should be flown in to sink boreholes; successive Zambian govts ignored this, I hope the present govt will do something about it. I also hope the current govt can find a win, win solution to the average Zambian benefiting from the countries mineral resources, not only by fairer taxes but as a direct participant, a mine owner, minerals trader, a supplier of software solutions and hardware to the mines. If you closely examine Lee Yuan Yews policies, you will notice they are closely steeped in advancing the formerly, permanent underclass, the indigenous Singaporean. It goes without saying, the Zambian govt will definitely have to engage in the direct change of behavioral practices of its people, to bring about wealth enjoyed by other communities in Zambia, including recent Burundian migrants. The average Zambian is nonplussed in a business way, with no notion of earning an income outside of a quickly diminishing salary. The resources are there, unlike Singapore and Japan with no noteworthy resources; the govt will have to get clever, it's no longer acceptable to be poor when you are standing on wealth.

Fascinating interview, indeed South African civil society is disengaged in developmental debate and initiatives thereof. Hence, our school curriculum is not pragmatic to proactively transform the status quo. We rely on politicians, though their failures are explicit in all spheres of governance.
