Lestat did care for his daughter, the reason she tried to kill him is because she was resentful of her eternal adolescence. But poignant in her last moments, he was the one person she saw.

​@@violetk8025Yeah I think the Trio (Lestat/Louis/Claudia) each have their own flaws/demons but deep down they love each other. Claudia needed time to figure out how to live with her eternal child body, Louis needed to learn how to split his love and attention not only for Claudia but also for Lestat. And Lestat needed to stop being a brat, being abusive and cheat everytime he felt unloved.
