Lestat & Louis - Shut Up

I know this would've turned out so much better if I had used only Interview wi the Vampire footage but I'm not a big fan of Cruise as Lestat; He did a wonderful job as the IWTV Lestat but he's just nowhere near my personal image of the character. Townsend gets closer - I just wish the film was true to Lestat and the story. But as it isn't, I did what I could with what I had. I hope you enjoy.
1:12-1:21 are moments similar to scenes in Kritstin Harris' brilliant video 'Foreever Gone Forever You', so I'm not the genius who came up with those bits but crecdits to her for the idea and please check that video of hers out, it's totally mind-blowing. This is the only case I used someone else's editing idea for a scene, as those were just too brilliant and fit the specific bit of this song too well. (:
Another Lestat&Louis video hopefully coming soon from me. I have a song but this is hard, editing with Townsend and Pitt.

Thanks! ^^ And yes, Townsend looks way too adorable when he smiles/laughs which is one more reason why i wish the film Lestat would've done so more, while of course it also would've made the Lestat more faithful to the novels, but no can do when the script is fucked up to build an angsty, depressed character. :/

Although I thing Cruise did a creditable job in IWtV, I never though his look was quite right. Stuart was younger and had a better look (though the film itself was dreadful). I think you caught a certain essence here; the dancing, grinning Lestat at 1:53 catches Lestat's devilish side very nicely. I really liked the vid. :)

I think you caught a certain essence by using Townsend (I love the devilish grin at 1:53) Cruise did a creditable job in IWtV, but he was not quite the image I have of Lestat. Too bad Townsend wasn't , well...BLOND (and too bad that fil was positively dreadful). I liked the editing you did and the song is great---love the vid!

@RavenAB12 I've told Anne Rice personally, flat out that I'd love for Townsend to get a chance to play a true version of Lestat b/c though the QOTD film version was horrible, I think he showed potential too. Her reply: "I appreciate your thoughts but I don't think anyone will ever ask him to play Lestat again. The film was too much of a bomb. And I haven't heard anything of him since." And she's happily discussed w/ me & helped me with the books ever since. She was not insulted by my likings.

I'd have thought it goes without saying that I mean the LYRICS fit the RELATIONSHIP, perfectly. And personally I think it's a bit narrow-minded to think vampires should be combined to only certain atmosphere songs/music as if they weren't still also human. At least Ricean vampires are very human, and so it shouldn't be too bad to combine them to all kinds of music. And anyway this is a relationship video. Not a vampire video. But thank you and I'm glad you liked the video in itself.

@Dazzira1 Well, you must take in account that Stuart Townsend had a crappy version to play. Cruise had a very novel-Lestat faithful script, Townsend had a very OOC version to go by. So he did the best he possibly could seeing to what he was hired to play.

@gairid Thanks! :D Yeah, I know, ST brought in a certain aspect of Lestat that TC didn't and probably couldn't anyway, not to mention that Louis who described that version, didn't see or care about that side. I think this vid could've worked well with the IWTV Lestat but I thought it better with this childlikely bratty version. For this song... Happy to hear there are so many who can enjoy this! (:

Actually, I was thinking about that too, I really wish he'd smiled more in QOTD, aside from the fact that he has an amazing smile, it would have been very Lestat. Still, he's the only reason I watch this movie, he's just so mesmerizing...ahhh hehehe

@MoonSlvr Yeah it was really weird how they completely messed up most of the character's looks, too, except Lestat who only needed blonde hair and blue eyes. I mean WHY was it so hard to stick to something so simple, as looks? NOT that it mattered more than the personalities and story which were most horribly screwerd up, but just wondering. :D And thanks! 'Glad you enjoyd my vid! ^^

@EugeniaLaBest Ah. The singing scene at 0:55 which you pointed out is from the Queen of the Damned film itself and some other similar concert scenes I used are from that film's DVD's bonus features, from the Completed Concert videos.

She used that clip-combination idea in her brilliant video "Forever Gone Forever You" and I thought I'd give it a try as I thought it indeed is genius and would fit that bit of this song's lyrics. :P In her vid that's just much more realistic looking because she's a pro editor and I'm not. :D

I mean the QOTD film's Lestat's personality & looks has a lot of the same than in the books the film bases on & Townsend pulled them off really well, which is why he is closer to my image of Lestat than Tom Cruise's is - but the QOTD film's Lestat's personality still has too essential things completely opposite than in the books. But it's to blame for the fact that they turned Marius's character almost completely upside-down too, while Lestat & Marius's relationship is very essential to Lestat.

Little Dark One Tom Cruise Has always been the Best Lestat to me Lestat has Blonde Hair and Greyish Blue eyes, in Queen of the damned they got his looks wrong, Townsend did a good job but he just wasn't like The Actual real Look of The brat Prince in Interview with the Vampire, if you actually read the book so... IWTV Lestat Blonde Hair and blue eyes

I agree QOTD movie Lestat was partially true to Lestat's personality, so that it was a _little_ like the books' Lestat. Just a little. :D

@RavenAB12 No, it's not. If I used him in a video that pointed out the film Lestat personality and storyline, and did it in admiring tone, then it would be. I using him simply because he's closer to my image of Lestat in childlikeness, and looks (except for the eyes and hair.) Even Anne has admited Townsend has something lestatlike in him, and she liked the choice of casting him, before the shitty film came out.

@angelchristensen Because it's not the same character. Queen of the Damned film is not a sequel to the Interview with the Vampire film. Even the timelines don't match. The IWTV film is faithful to the characters in the book version, except Armand looks nothing like he does in the book. But the Queen of the Damned film's characters' looks, personalities and the basic plot and details are 90% made up by the film's makers and do not follow the books it should and it ignores the IWTV film too.

Do you know on her Facebook Anne Rice has said she never wants Townsend anywhere near th role ever again. That should tell you something. Have a little respect for the character's creator, please!

I think Simple Plan's song ruins the whole video, and it's a good video by the waY. it doesn't have anything to do with the quality of the song itself, i wouldn't afford spitting such vain comments. but ....video... an song....don't match. it just destroys that peculiar atmosphere, inspiration, charme, magnetism, obscure attraction and penetrating attitude that are essential part of vampires' image (and not only their GENERAL image, but also THE image that THESE MOVIES clearly suggest).

Tom Cruise was BY FAR the better Lestat. Why is this mixed? I'm a HUGE Aaliyah fan, but won't hold back: Queen of the Damned was aweful! 👎

I agree, but I blame the script not the actor. I mixed instead of using just Interview clips because I prefer Stuart Townsend's outside appearance for Lestat. (Really the only flaw is that his hair and eye colours are wrong but those don't really matter to me.)
